Bush tax cuts, where did they go?
by jammer

Liechtenstein! That's where! It's been reported by ABC News that millions of the wealthiest Americans are using the banks of this small country to avoid paying taxes due in the USA. What patriots, what upstanding citizens< what Bush supporting assholes! I hope they all get fined in the millions and put their sorry asses in jail.

And it just goes to show, don't piss off the computer geek!

when I was in the 8th grade, I did

a report on Liechtenstein. It's not a country, it's a Principality, situated between the countries of Austria and Switzerland.

Interestingly, it has more registered companies than citizens

Well, I didn't qualify for a tax cut
by Trebuchet

even with a combined salary of 6 digits.

Not only did I not qualify for the top 2% tax cut, but with their contribution missing from the revenue balance, my property taxes have gone up to counter the missing federal funds that no longer go to our city and schools.

So in reality, it hasn't been a tax cut for me at all - my taxes went up. And overall services have gone down.

Thanks, little george....

George's taxcuts went to the federal deficit. Simple as that
by spreadsheet
Just as was the case with Ronnalyraygun's taxcuts, the actual gross amount of the taxcuts themselves, is remarkably similar to the gross amount of the debt rung up during their tenures. Unfortunately for us though.....there's a difference. In terms of Li'l George and this calculation, the off-budget costs of his Debacle are not included.

I spent mine on beer.

Does that count?

Don't thank little George too soon, if Obama gets into office, he is coming after you to pay for the upwards of a Trillion in new taxes he's proposing.

So if you liked Bush, you'll LOVE Obama.

You do realize that wealthy people have been using off shore banking for decades don't you? Off shore banking is not illegal so do you propose throwing them in jail for doing nothing illegal?

There were no missing federal funds. The amount of federal revenues actually increased year after year when the tax cuts went into effect.
You are sadly mistaken, teigan.

I would refer you to <taxpolicycenter.org>. For what it's worth, this is absolutely not some sort of ideologically founded site. All it is, is a compilation of facts. If you look to their tables showing American inflows and outflows. You'll note that Georgiean gross annual tax reciepts did not exceed those realized in Clinton's last fical year, 2000, until fiscal year 2006.

I realize this runs counter to red conventional wisdom...but ya can't argue with the guvmint's data!

If it's not illegal then why is the IRS investigating for tax fraud? Why are they thinking about charging the bank's officiers with aiding and abetting tax fraud. I think you better go back to law school pal. Hiding money in offshore accounts to avoid paying taxes has always been illegal.

Offshore banking is not illegal.

So me the link. I went to your website and didn't see any charts showing the revenue from 2000 to 2006.

oops, I meant show me.
teigan...go to this page:

<link> Check out the first two columns: "Individual income taxes" and "corporate taxes". Add the two together, for each year from 2000 to 2006. Be amazed.

I'm looking at your chart and looking at the totals in the last column.
I shows revenue increasing in 2004 above the total revenue of 1999. And increases in total revenue every year after that and estimates showing the increase continuing. In 2006 the revenues surpassed the revenues of 2000.

Economically we took a huge hit after 9-11. The chart you showed me shows our total revenues are growing especially the last four years.
