Nuts are everywhere
by ladykrystyna

Honestly, being a moderate, I really see the nuts on both sides. Which is why I actually found The New Yorker cover to be funny - because it's such tinfoil nonsense it deserves to be laughed at. And I'm not even voting for Obama (and it has nothing to do with the color of his skin or his father's religion; it's the ISSUES, stupid). And don't assume I'll vote for McCain either. Remember, MODERATE, not dittohead.

If, as someone below asked, The New Yorker were to do a send-up of this doozy, I, too, would find it funny for the same reason.

I honestly didn't think I'd find that many takers on this article, but in 3 pages, there it was - the lunatic fringe of the Left.

Since I am a moderate, don't bother telling me about the lunatic fringe of the Right. I've already met them and greet them with the same amount of disdain.

Perhaps you people (and those on the Right) need to read a couple of general essays by Orson Scott Card to understand how absolutely ridiculous this "extremism" really is and how its destroying this country from within.

Most Americans do not want that kind of country. Most Americans go through their daily lives making sure there is food on the table and clothes on their backs and a roof over their heads. Most of this other stuff is just pure nonsense and drivel and should be ignored.

The fact is, as someone else noted - this whole article sounded like a pitch for a Hollywood studio on a new film, or a Tom Clancy novel.

Sheesh. Get a life people.

Why not Tom Clancy?
by Greatbear452
After eight years of being governed by people who think 24 is reality TV, why not base policy on a Tom Clancy novel.

And you've just proven my point, as well as Mr. Card's.

Thanks.

Personally, I'd pick Jack Bauer to base

my government on. The guy makes Chuck Norris look like a sissy.

Psst. Jack Bauer is a fictional character.
Psst: Many people miss the point

when you are being satirical. FYI: Jack Ryan is also a fictional character, though Tom Clancy is real.

No, I think you missed my original point, which was that both 24 and Clancy's novels are fiction.

It seems like the average bushbot has trouble with that concept.

Re: Psst: Many people miss the point

But, Greatbear, you still think that the article's premise is something to really be worried about - so who's living the fiction?

Maybe you should meet up with "lovethebomb" and discuss Blackwater's preparation for internment camps and the "terrorist" attack that's coming before the November election.

Sheesh, people, did you ALL forget your meds!

Re: Psst: Many people miss the point
by Greatbear452

Actually, I don't think it's something to be worried about, but I understand why some people do.

So, try not to make too many generalized assumptions.

Re: Psst: Many people miss the point

While I on the other hand do not understand why some on the Right are worried (or actually believe) that The New Yorker cover is actually true.

If you can "understand" it, what does that say? To me, that's like saying that you understand why people want to run planes into buildings.

I don't try to understand the kooks because there is nothing to understand about them. They're NUTS.

On The Fray, assumptions fly all over the place, all while I'm trying to be nice and moderate. So I'm kinda done worrying about assumptions, thanks.

Re: Psst: Many people miss the point

So, accusing me of being "off my meds" is your idea of being "nice and moderate"? Huh?

Weird.

Do I think it is nuts that some people believe that this administration is capable of anything? No, I don't. Team Bush has demonstrated a consistent disrespect for the law and constitution, that I do see how some people would believe that they would try to bypass the Presidential Succession Law in the interest of maintaining their power.

Now, personally, I do think it would be a dumb thing for them to do and I don't think that they are that stupid (we're assuming Bush is dead, right?).

Of course, you want to equate that with "understanding" suicide bombers and terrorists, again, you're flunking the "nice and moderate" test.

But I don't seriously believe that you're a moderate any more than I believe that 9/11 was an inside jobs.

I already know what I am and I don't need validation from you.

Sorry, when someone can "understand" a looney person, I have to question it. And that goes for whether the "understanding" person is understanding some nut on the Right or the Left . . .

Thereby making ME a moderate, thank you very much.

Cheers.

Good for you.

I still don't believe it.
