The Monster Bump
by marylb

Monster Bump
With my greatest apologies to Bobby "Boris" Pickett

I was working in my house late one night
When my eyes beheld an eerie sight
For Obama, from my TV, did arise
And suddenly to my surprise

He did the Bump
He did the Monster Bump
The Basketball Bump
It was a televised smash
He did the Bump
It caught on in a flash
He did the Bump
He did the Basketball Bump

From my home in the castle east
To the master Bumpers where the Lakers feast
Kobe's team came from their massive abodes
To ease the jolt of the televised electrodes

They did the Bump
They did the monster Bump
The monster Bump
It was an instant smash
They did the Bump
It caught on in a flash
They did the Bump
They did the monster Bump

The athletes all burned under the sun
The party folks had just begun
The guests included Iverson,
Fisher, and his son

The scene was rockin', all were digging the Pounds
Finley in chains, backed by baying hounds
The net-slammers were about to arrive
With their vocal group, "The Kick-Butt Five"

They pound the Bump
They pound the monster Bump
The monster Bump
It was a global smash
They Pound the Bump
It caught on in a flash
They pound the Bump
They pound the monster Bump

Out from his audience, Obama's voice did ring
Seems he was troubled by just one little thing
He said to Michelle as they pounded fist
"This will give detractors a brand new twist?"

It's now the Pound
It's now the monster Pound
The monster Pound
And it's a worldwide smash
It's now the Pound
It's caught on in a flash
It's now the Pound
It's now the monster Pound

Now everything's cool, Kidd's a part of the band
And the monster Pound is the hit of the land
For you, the living, this Pound was meant too
When you get to my door, say Obama sent you

Then you can Bump
Then you can monster Bump
The monster Bump
And do the Howie Mandel smash
Then you can Bump
You'll catch on in a flash
Then you can Bump
Then you can monster Bump

Unless of course you are a terrorist.

That's what he's gonna do to all our taxes.

Nope, only if you make over $250k a year.

Gallup Tracking has him at +1. If that is his bump, he's toast in the general. Kerry was +6 at this time and Gore +4.

...do you think the rich will absorb that tax increase?

Hmmm?

Taxes roll downhill, if you tax the people who produce jobs, goods and services....who do you think pays in the end?

Get a fucking clue, will you?

MrTiki:
That's what he's gonna do to all our taxes.

Based on your posts, I imagine you'll get tax deferments and credits instead of hikes. Barry bin Barack's unreasonable tax idea looks like it will be a net loser, more revenue drops than rises. Just Little George with a tan.

"Taxes roll downhill,"

Corporate and business taxes do. Taxes on ball players and rappers tend to be absorbed, just as thos on CEO's and other employees.

"if you tax the people who produce jobs, goods and services...."

Not many of those will get hit, the average doctor, lawyer, or CPA coming in below the break line.

"who do you think pays in the end?"

The person who is taxed. Certainly a better system than the current borrow and spend where everyone pays through inflation for tax deferments for some while the ultimate bill falls on people 30 years in the future.

My main reason for supporting tax hikes, beyond strong Dollar and lower commodity costs, is that the only way Americans decide they want less government is if they have to actually pay full price for the government.

Neither candidate is interested in a balanced budget, so things will continue as they are for four more years.

Any idea where McCain finds $700 billion in spending cuts?

Me thinks you may be counting chickens too soon. ;)

On a serious note:

I think it depends on the poll but the Gallup numbers are troubling for anyone though I'd say it is much more troubling for McCain. The debates should actually tell the story. I would not put bets on either for the debates so it will be what it ends up being. IF Obama still draws the big crowds, and IF Obama's stances match today's needs, and IF Obama continues to gain in crossovers, new voters and Independents then the man who is behind in the Gallup poll will likely go home.

McCain is behind the 8 ball so what he needs is for Obama not to adjust some of his stances, particularly in energy. McCain can only win be default with the cooperation of Obama. The verdict is still out as it pertains to playing for the larger audience.

It can't make McCain happy that even in polls that show him close, he is still chasing the tiger.

"It can't make McCain happy that even in polls that show him close, he is still chasing the tiger."

Factoring in what I expect to be a 5-10% Bradley Effect, McCain should win easily.

Re: The Monster Bump

Only if there is no point of comparison. And there will be. Keep in mind that though Obama had the Democrat focus, nationally he is relatively unknown. The debates and the gatherings will tell this story. There is no way imo that Obama will languish in the lead this close. I think you continue to underestimate him. But we'll see.

Bradley Effect will be another concept that gets sidetracked by this election. Time is on Obama's side and McCain can only hope he lingers in a shadow. That will not happen. It is when the public knows exactly where these two candidates stand and their appeal that any movement should begin to show up on the radar. I have no doubt that if Obama includes the middle as he will, McCain may be wise to start packing his bags.

"Bradley Effect will be another concept that gets sidetracked by this election."

Your faith gives you hope. Of the Democrats I talk to, 10% may be the Bradley Effect here.

As for Obama moving to the middle, FISA isn't the middle, it's Bushiehead imperial presidency.

The monster bump? I thought you were doing a Mae West joke there for a minute. You know "is that a flashlite in your pocket or are ya happy to see me?"
