Straight from the horses mouth (ass)

“For the first time in my adult lifetime, I’m really proud of my country not just because Barack has done well, but because I think people are hungry for change,” she said. “I have been desperate to see our country moving in that direction and just not feeling so alone in my frustration and disappointment.”

Never been proud of her country?

Just what we need in a first lady, eh?

And, of course, you're not taking that comment out of context or anything. Not at all.

Moving in what direction???

Neither candidate is smelling too sweet to me. But Obama's wife, she seems like an angry woman.

We're supposed to ignore the context and that adjective "really" in front of "proud", right?
Quoted.

WORD FOR FUCKING WORD.
Ummmm.....what WAS the context again?

I certainly hope not.

I understand what she means, she's a civilian and she's all caught up in the movement and in the moment.

I don't get the slant when people bring that up, does it mean that you are any LESS American at times when your not so proud of the country?

But....but....the CONTEXT!
by barbella
(There's gotta be some other CONTEXT around here somewhere...)! :-)
LOL

Like that makes even a little bit of difference.

She's making it clear that she's never been 'really proud' of her country.

Perhaps, however, she was imaginary proud?

Or maybe even 'pretend' proud?

Re: LOL

Yeah, like we're "really succeeding in Iraq" versus we're "pretend succeeding in Iraq"....see, very important adjective.
I have always been proud of my country.

I may not approve of some of her leader's actions and policies, but America is an unwavering beacon in a troubled world.

This I believed when I served her, and I believe it today.

But, obviously, Michelle doesn't.

You are literally challenged aren't
by Pop-Eye

you?

She said in her adult life which is the life of reason.

Somehow I think you have not gotten there yet!

Where did she say "never"?
by Cerulean_Mutt

Perhaps you should check the definition of the term "really" as it's used in this case. Since I'm feeling particularly generous this afternoon, I'll speed the discussion along a bit and post it for you:

really: truly, unquestionably - used as an intensifier (i.e "~ beautiful day").

So, her phrase means her pride in this country was intensified, not, as you erroneously suggested, that she never had any pride to begin with.

Hope that helps.

Since you have such a bug up

your ass about her "pride"....maybe you can explain the positives of pride versus the negatives and detail why it matters so much to you or anyone else that Michelle Obama has some or not...

Give it a go...and to start you off, I'd like to begin with the idea....Pride goes before a fall....
