Like it or not, politics is, in large part, the exercise of compromise. Until someone figures out how to organize a society around a benovelent dictatorship (run by someone who agrees with me on every issue, but with superior administrative and leadership skills!), that is what we have to work with.
I cannot say I am happy with all the compromises on Obama's part, but that is what makes them compromises. Whether they are prudent (meaning whether they work to help him get elected) is another question.
