You should change MasterJay to Masterbat....

According to a CNN/Opinion Research Corp. poll released Friday, the number of Clinton supporters who plan to defect to Republican Sen. John McCain's camp is down from one month ago, but -- in what could be an ominous sign for Obama as he seeks to unify the party -- the number of them who say they plan to vote for Obama is also down, and a growing number say they may not vote at all.

In a CNN/Opinion Research Corp. survey completed in early June before the New York senator ended her White House bid, 60 percent of Clinton backers polled said they planned on voting for Obama. In the latest poll, that number has dropped to 54 percent.

In early June, 22 percent of Clinton supporters polled said they would not vote at all if Obama were the party's nominee, now close to a third say they will stay home.

In another sign the wounds of the heated primary race have yet to heal, 43 percent of registered Democrats polled still say they would prefer Clinton to be the party's presidential nominee.

For Obama to be elected its going to require ALL Democrats and a healthy dose of Independents and Republicans. He doesn't have All Democrats even nearly in his corner, how will he get the rest of what he needs to be President?

I see it as the impossible dream.

No, today is new and it is thus every day and you can double that in Politics. Find three polls that support your fantasy.

Like I mention, give me three reliable sources. Searching Google and Yahoo the only place I can come up with a story like that is exclusively in California and exclusively California Democrats.

I find nothing on a Natinwide basis to indicate that Obama is enjoying all the Democrat support; the opposite is true there is clearly a battle from the DNC and Obama camps to keep Clinton's name from being put into nomination at all, circumventing the democracy the party claims to espouse.

How do you explain this situation???

Hehe.

Must be the new math.

if the dems are so united i wonder why the dnc is resorting to using lobbyists money to fund the convention in denver???? instead of using contributions from members?

THAT is the story that isnt being told

i have heard NONE of the msm cover this story

Oh I know..here in Ca. the democratic legislature was trying to get the voting age lowered to 17! I kid you not! (it was reported in our local Long Beach Daily Paper :The Press Telegram on the front page).

This was right after Obama got the nomination.

Shows you how desperate they are and how they know they are in trouble unless they canb exploit the poor kids votes.

Of course the effort failed . no one with any sense is going to go along with that idea.

and let's see 80% minus 8% leaves 12 % still not voting for Obama..that's what 20% of dems not for Obama. ouch.

To clarify,Master Jay..you didn't quite report this accurately. Those stats are for California dems only. And the 8% are dems saying,( in Ca.) that will vote for McCain..that leaves 12% who will not vote for him or will write in another candidate or not vote at all. That's 20% of Ca. dems not voting for Obama.

In other states..the numbers and percents of dems not voting for Obama is quite a bit higher...he does best in Ca. and those are the numbers and percentages you cited.(Ca. percents)

That's a very frightening thought. Given how close recent elections have been, even surrending 2% of the Democratic vote to McCain could be the game changer. Clinton's supporters could represent roughly 1/4 of the likely voters, so 8% of them could represent a 2% swing from Democrat to Republican, which is greater than the swing that was needed to dictate the 2000 and 2004 elections. If you throw in another roughly 3% of the electorate that would have voted for Clinton but instead stays home (12% of 25%), you're essentially talking about a 7-point shift (five down for Obama, two up for McCain). It's not at all rare for less than 7 points to separate candidates in an election. So, even if it were only as bad in other states as in California, we're talking about a phenomenon with a real chance of handing the election to McCain.

I hope Obama isn't so overconfident as to think he can just blow off all those votes and still win. The situation absolutely cries out for naming Clinton the VP. I'm sure that notion doesn't appeal to him, but sometimes a man has to put the interests of his country ahead of his own ego. At this point, I remain cautiously optimistic that Obama will prove wise enough to do so.
