So let me get this straight
by nyah

She is happy to have additional testing done, she's never tested positive for any performance enhancing substance and yet the whole article reads like she is Barry Bonds in a skirt.

This is really poor journalism.

No, its good journalism as it raises questions a lot of us have.

Of late , the majority of older athletes achieving abnormal success have been associated with doping. (Bonds, Palmerio)

Testing, even voluntary testing, means nothing if she is off cycle or using an enhancement no one knows how to test for. (Joyner, Bonds, Merriman)

Her mannish appearance with her hardend pronounced jawline is a not something we haven't see before. (USSR, Open class women's bodybuilding)

RE: Her "mannish appearance and pronounced jawline"

Have you ever considered that she was born with these? A lot of people like ignoring this, but there are many, many women in the world who don't fit a Barbie doll interpretation of femininity. Especially among a group of elite athletes, who will have developed more muscle mass than an untrained woman. Her body actually looks more natural to me than seventy-five percent of the Hollywood population.

What I find pathetic is how politicized it has become when many of these "older athletes" have legitimiately worked hard to perfect their capabilities in a sport they love. It seems more like a case of a bunch of jealous people trying to minimize the achievements of athletes.

The reason that Dara Torres is promoting her regimen (so as to provide the innocent explanation) is that she thinks it looks suspicious. You're being a little credulous if you don't.
