Stalin's Rating Now
by Jeanne Georges

I cannot believe the Russian people have raised Stalin to such a level--maybe it is a generational thing? His fall from grace was appropriate, but his rise now is abominable and wrong.

he died. i don't remember him falling in russian eyes. i think the rus know that stalin was the key in holding the countly together during the german attempt at conquest. the germans of course went intent on the eradication of the so called slavic race. why wouldn't the rus hold the man who was instrumental in their survival in esteem. also life and the cost of living was much better for the average russian under stalin as compared to living under the yoke of capitalism.

Russians honoring Stalin, liberals honoring Che Guevara, what's next?

Stalin is dead, who gives a flying hoot; if they like him, its THEIR business? Afterall, they lived there, you did not. They are not asking you to love him. They don't give a damn anymore about what you think!

Why do you people think you have the right to judge everyone else and everything else, while you close your eyes to your own sins?

Stalin kicked Hitler's ass, period. He did that.

Stalin never had 2 million people in jail like these Cons do in America RIGHT NOW, the most the Soviet Union ever gulagged was 1 million.

Stalin never fought for or imposed Apartied in the Soviet Union the way Jesse Helms and most of you Con artists continuing to "serve" in Congress did during the 1960s.

As for killing political opponents, what the hell happened to John Kennedy, Martin Luther King, Bobby Kennedy, Malcolm X, and Fred Hampton (and as to Fred Hampton, it was proved in a court of law that Hanrahan, the Police Chief at the time in Chicago, literally ordere his assasination)?

As for ruining political opponents, your Attorney General scandal is a real good example of using the law to humiliate, and even imprison your political opponents.

How you freaks can bash Stalin for doing the same thing is way beyond me.

Frankly, I think Stalin turned socialism into a religion, a state religion, and that is sickening, I am not a big fan, but I hate this monovision right wing chorus, "oh _________ killed millions of people"; its dumb, it substitutes for serious discussion and serious learning, its part of the dumbing down of America by these stupid, brutish little fascists; we are not allowed to think anymore, and when that happens, we fall apart, which is just what we are doing.

Lenin is my personal favorite.

LMAO, Americans are shocked by the Russian portrayal of Stalin? Does anyone think that American history will accurately chronicle Chimp's torture chambers, the American-made genocide in Iraq, etc? How about the fact that the American 'people' KNEW - every single one of them - that Chimp was running torture chambers BEFORE they rewarded the Torturer with a second term in power, back in 2004? Think that'll make the cut?

American textbooks - like the American people - will ignore their own war crimes and war criminals, while they act all indignant about human rights violations committed by others. OH MY GOD!! LOOK WHAT THE CHINESE ARE DOING IN TIBET!! OMIGOD!!

God Bless America.

No, it's not a generational thing.

Stalin's real status in the minds of everyday Russians never ebbed.

That's something that people in the West aren't even aware of and don't understand (particularly Americans, who, as a group, seem to know little about the outside world).

I can vividly recall visiting Lenin's Tomb on Red Square, back in 1975, when the gray Leonid Brezhnev was still in charge.

When you exit the tomb, there is a line of elaborate gravesites, dedicated to various heroes of the Soviet Union.

Along that line lay several of the early Communist leaders (the ones not purged in the 1930's that is). There is also youri Gagarin, Zukov and Stalin.

Stalin's grave was heaped with flowers, written testmonials and war ribbons from veterans of the Great Patriotic War (which is what Russians call WWII).

There was nothing organized or staged about this either.

I had been prepared for this by Hedrick Smith, then the Times correspondent in Moscow, whose excellant book "The Russians" gives enormous insight into Russian daily life in those days and the way Russians think.

Even after the fall of the Soviet Union, it's an insightful read, even though its descriptions of daily life are well out of date.

My apologies. Liberals honor Che Guevera and Stalin too.

Thanks for correcting me.

Well, so far history hasn't chronicled how liberalism has taken millions of lives through such exercises as supporting sanctions in Iraq, working to ban DDT in malaria prone countries and abortion.

But I have a feeling people will wake up and see the sickness that is liberalism.

Maybe history needs some facts to back up those claims, TT. UNICEF claims that half a million people died as a result of the sanctions, how do you arrive at 'millions'?

Well said cuntboxx, well said indeed.

And not at all unlike how some of us feel about them, or anyone else in the world questioning our leaders. Why you so quick to jump in someone's shit for questioning why it is people in other countries feel a certain way about their leaders but neglect to EVER point out the folly in people doing that toward the US and Bush?

Why do you think these other people have the right to judge us, but you bitch if we dare do the same?

As for that silly-assed shit, "Stalin never had 2 million people in jail like these Cons do in America RIGHT NOW, the most the Soviet Union ever gulagged was 1 million.", how is that even relevant to anything? Are you saying only cons desire we live our lives by laws? Do you mean libs wouldn't put people in prison? Perhaps you are trying to relate our prisons for crimes to cons just locking up those who disagree with them politically, is that it? Whatever it is, it paints you as the pathetic little petty twit you are, I'll give you that.......

But, we have had people assinated. Those 4 or 5 you listed, that is probably very comparable to the political treatments all around the world in your looney libby alter-reality, but to anyone NOT blinded with a seething rage toward those who would dare not accept your views and opinions as their own, it just won't fly, sport.
