It's interesting how all the double standards that coalesce around Obama supporters come to the fore with this cartoon.
You have to wonder if they aren't going to put on their burkas and burnooses and demonstrate about prophet-abuse and the sin of Insufficient Obeisance that is being waged against He Who Must Be Obamaed. Effigies of the artist dressed in Hillary drag will undoubtedly be burned in firepits by swimming pools wherever pac money has been donated.
I would have gone with portraying Obama as Napoleon and Michelle as Lady Macboma. Is that an eintitlement I see before me?
And you have to ask yourself how much press this would be getting if Blitt had come out with a cover equally provocative about McCain.
What it says to me is that there is one paramount issue that defines Obama and that is control.
Were he to win --and this kind of attitude illustrates why he won't-- there would be cartoons about Sacred Cowbama every single day.
It's what cartoonists do. Echo the truth with a snicker.
Obama and his grim little band of Obamabots have re-defined PC. It now stands for Political Censorship.
And why it will come down to a constitutional lawyer eroding the First Amendment.
Not mention how many broken campaign promises before he has had the possibility of even being nominated.
For example, until Obama appeared on the scene the Huffington Post was a site that celebrated the First Amendment and a rainbow of dissent.
Now it has a band of fifteen censors tightly controlling every word printed there.
One of them on Saturday sent me a notice that I was banned from posting on their site in future.
I had been posting there nearly every single day since Cindy Sheehan set foot in Crawford.
But I do not support Obama and have no hesitation about saying why doing so is such a bad idea.
Which generally labels me as a bitter old lady white racist. All of which breezes by unimpeded their censors.
So most of my posts, especially anything favorable to Hillary Clinton, never got posted.
I suppose the best part of the Huffington Post are the comments lost to a band of anonymous manipulators.
But any posters that could be derogatory to Clinton have been posted by the yard.
On my profile, my archive space goes back to March. One of the Clinton bashers posted fifteen hours straight last week, using up all of her archive space in twelve hours to attack anyone who even cleared their throat regarding Obama. Not one insult about Hillary Clinton was censored.
My favorite observation about this is that Arianna Huffington has long been on a tear about how Karl Rove ignores public opinion.
Well, when you censor-proof your site against dissent, besides making for a homogeneously dull alternate reality, how are you not ignoring public opinion?
The other moot point is Obama losing. I'm in the Flyover. A giraffe could get more voters interested . No one here is thinking twice. they are giving it away to McCain.
Control is not an issue for anyone visibly secure in his position. Obama is not.
The Democratic Selection Committee will have to learn after the fact that you can foist a symbol of division and entitlement onto the ticket. But you can't get a populist majority to ever want to vote for it.
The fact that Obama is increasingly seen as a dour little prig in addition to being a sanctimoniously expedient Hologram doesn't do much for his electability either.
Or his rantingly hypocritical faction either.
How the Democrats think the same people who would rather have a second helping of George Bush (think about that for a moment) than accept Dean or Kerry are going to relate to Obama, let alone cast a vote for him, is beyond comprehending.
Especially when Hillary Clinton is an available logical alternative.
But the Democrats in this election merely exist to empower McCain, taxidermied and doddering as he may be.
I'm writing in Hillary Clinton and preparing to ignore another Republican president for the next four years.
It would be nice of both parties to come up with candidates that aren't an insult to the electorate but that's not going to happen.
...........and we are already paying the price for it.
Just remember people in crisis inevitably skew to the familiar.
Obama is as odd as it gets.
Even creepier is this level of bullying genuflection.
Or that cover wouldn't be there in the first place, would it?
