The reason Americans think the fist jab is a terrorist innovation could well be that they don't play cricket. Indian cricketers have, when battting, been using the fist jab at least for a couple of decades if not more. It works so much better for their gloved fists than the high fives. Of course when they are fielding (without their gloves) they prefer to protect their knuckles and go for the high fives. There is of course the argument that Indian cricketers should be considered terrorists because of the pain they cause other Indians by their performance. But that's a different matter.

pani, you hardly have to watch cricket (which is almost never televised here) to see the fist jab. Any sport will do (pro, college, recreational, anything). Hell, I do it, and I'm a barely athletic white chick.
