Cartoon Wedding
by Lovethedoggies

I don't quite understand why Maid of Stress is so disturbed by this...as a good friend to this person she should have had SOME sort of inclination that something like this could happen. Also, it's not like the bride is forcing only her to wear a chicken costume with a giant spotlight the entire time. Lots of other people will dressed like that too! She's not going to get any undue attention aside from the fact that she's the maid of honor and gets to make a speech.

Yes, your friend should have told you from the get go, but at least now you can control what character you go as (there are TONS of cartoons that have adorable costumes and hair that wouldn't make you look like a fool. You don't have to choose Oscar the Grouch.) instead of buying a terrible dress of the bride's choosing.

When it all comes down to it, it's your best friend's day and she wants you to be a big part of it and support her. Especially after you have already agreed, I think backing out now would be terribly rude and hurtful to your friendship unless your friend is very, very understanding.

I agree with you. This whole cartoon wedding may be a little silly, but since everyone will be dressing up in costume - not just the LW - I don't understand why she's so self-conscious about it. Of course, there are lots of people who don't want to do "embarrassing" things even though they won't be embarrassing because everyone else is doing them too.

If she hates the idea so much, choose to dress as a Disney Princess. The hairstyles are decent, and the dresses are generally presentable. And they are cartoon characters, after all.

Personally, I'd dress up as something cool, like Wonderwoman, Tweety or Underdog. Or maybe Sweet Polly, and make Hubby dress like Underdog.

Um, no. As I said in my initial post on this last week, this behavior must not be encouraged. You can't have a society saying how sacred and solemn marriage is, while turning weddings into a joke. When civil unions are finally decoupled from "marriage", you can have the "wedding" you want. Until then, take this institution a little seriously, please.

I would love to go to a wedding like this. Personally, I would get a friend of mine to help me dress up like Dot from Animaniacs.
