The Democrats are still talking about the Energy Crisis
by Skeptical3
+2 Reply

Barack is the name conning the nation is game Obama is thinking about Nuclear Power*

Speaker of our House of Ill Repute Democrat Nancy Pelosi is talking about opening the National Oil Reserve to lower gasoline prices instead of drilling for more oil.

Democrat Leader of the US Senate Harry Reid talks about coal making us sick, talks about oil making us sick while preventing a vote on off- shore drilling for oil in our waters.

Democrats are still talking…meanwhile crude oil hit $150/barrel

What are you talking about?

*We know what that answer will be, eh..."I don't think so."

Meanwhile, we are all enjoying the second month of John McCain's glorious Summer Gas Tax Holiday®.

run the numbers on just how much money an 18 wheel truck driver getting five miles to a gallon on a loaded rig will save by not paying the 25 cent/gallon Federal tax on his fuel?

PS did you see on TV today that members of the Transportation Industy including Air and Trucking a demanding immediate Congressional Action to help keep planes flying and trucks rolling...oh you didn't know that Big Air pays federal taxes on "jet fuel"

Oh, I agree. I'm just loving my gas tax holiday. I've probably already saved thousands of dollars!
still talking about the Energy Crisis
by NickD

Skeptical,

The seeds for this situation have been sown for a long time. The GOP is more to blame right now than the Democrats. However there are many Democrats taking stands on the issue that I do not like.

This moderate Democrat favors expanding our refineries and upgrading them to refine the crude oil in Alberta canada. 1/3 of all of the worlds oil exists in Alberta Canada. we can pipe it directly to our refineries and lower our energy costs versus letting our nations competitors have it. providing of course that canada sees a fair profit from it all.

I also favor more offshore drilling. Due to the ease of shipping the oil in ANWR would most likely be sold to China and Japan before it was used in these United States.

Obama has spoken many times about using our nations coal reserves. This would create many badly needed new jobs and could provide our energy needs for the next 100+ years.

I will support nuclear when we either have a way to nuetralize the waste or remove it safely from the planet all together.

Just face the windmill as you bloviate and I'm sure you can power a good bit of New England.

sight of Ted Kennedy's Wind Mill Farm off Cape Cod, of Ducadmo's mega watts of Wind Mill Farms in Arizona.

Obama is still thinking about permitting the construction of new nuclear power plants.

Reid is still killing coal fired power plants in his state.

Pelosi is pouting and about to lose her job running the House of Ill Repute.

You and your crowd, JackD, offer us absolutely nothing but the chaos that is all around us in just these few months since April 2007. Not even Israel bombing Iran will save you.

NickD, much must be done.
by Skeptical3

Much can be done.

Your stand on nuclear power has been answered by France years ago.

Unfortunately for the nation, you have this position, Reid is anti oil and anti coal. Pelosi has her head up her ass. in plain language as she demands the opening of the National Oil reserve.

We are in a world of hurt, NickD, RIGHT NOW. We cannot wait until next January, six long months from now to come up with positive and effective energy program.

PS Those that mandate the turning of a food crop into gasoline should be jailed and tried for murder.

I once heard it said that most folks keep the thermostat at 72 in winter and 68 in summer and if they would reverse that, much of the problem would be solved. Conservation, you old fogy!

Nuclear is the answer. The computer advances could save the nuclear industry from human mistakes.Human mistakes would no longer be possible.

No more three mile islands or chernoble.

New Nuclear Power plants coupled with

a crash program that rebuilds our electrical grid nation wide would be a giant step foward.

Lets get going now,

Meanwhile nuclear, natural gas, clean coal fired power plants and all the wind farms in the world are not going to keep the some 250 million trucks and cars, plus trains and planes, fueled and running.

JackD I never took you for a jackass.
by Skeptical3

So cut the crap.

Last winter many of us had our thermostat set at 65 degrees to the detriment of elders. This summer many of us have yeat to turn on our AC to the detriment of seniors. (you have heard of seniors living in assisted living homes prone to hypothermia and heat exhaustion, eh...but what the hell, Greens keep telling us that the world is overpopulated so lets kill of the seniors starting with the baby boomers we cannot afford to pay Medicare and SS benifits.

Meanwhile, you, NickD, can stick your thermostat in your ear and put not one drop of fuel in our vehicles, trains, and planes. And to support a govenment that mandates turning a food crop such as corn into fuel for cars is criminal.

There's a shortage of fossil fuel?

When did this happen?

Why you confounded liberals!!!

Skeppy, all due respect, but you're a fucking idiot.

France is still just storing their radioactive waste on site. it will have to be paid for and managed for a very very long time, the length of time required to safely monitor such waste is currently longer than humans have enjoyed civilization. It doesn't mean we shouldn't keep looking for an answer.

If we simply start allowing refineries that want to expand, to expand, there would be an immediate reaction on the futures pricing. Within weeks we would see an easing of prices. They simply sit and wait with prints in hand, parts ordered and skilled crafts people at the ready, waiting for permits. Bush could have ordered those permits passed by the EPA a long time ago. The EPA is controlled by the executive branch and many of these permits have languished for years. Anyway the expansion projects would immediately create thousands of good paying jobs and cause a drop in futures pricing.

Ethanol can be part of the answer. Its actually a very beneficial additive to gasoline. During years of surplus, ethanol can act as a price protection for farmers and ease the need for farm subsidies. During years when harvests are thin ethanol should not be used for fuel. Food should always come first.

Bush just killed a clean coal plant that has been in the planing stages for years. He killed it for parochial political reasons. There are other coal plants being built and many more having scrubbers constructed to allow for the production of more electricity from coal.

With all due respect, this world of hurt has been brewing for a very long time and until recently the GOP has had control of all branches of government. Its a bipartisan dropping of the ball. I am disappointed in Reid and Pelosi both, the working men and women they are supposed to stand for need good paying coal and oil jobs now.

Obama will let us use our coal and I am sure he will let us expand our refineries. I am not in agreement with his stance on all drilling. 1/3 of the worlds oil is in Alberta Canada, Canada is in favor of recovering it so all we really need is to expand our refineries and use our coal while we develop the cleaner alternative sources of energy for the future.

Those waiting for the magic bullets will cause our nations working class to lose everything they own, and the middle class to collapse.

Ok skippy, stick your thermostadt in your own ear. This crisis did not start yesterday its been brewing for a long time. to try to pin this on Democrats is to be a dishonest hack.

The GOP has controlled congress for 12 of the last 13 years they have held the White house for 28 of the last 40 years. I think you need to get your head out of your anal oriface and smell the coffee. And you need to pay attention to who supports what around here before tossing out stupid remarks.
