They are not poor, they're middle class who can afford to eat better so they do. Are they not allowed to enjoy the better fruits of their labor?

Also, biofuels have had a profound and quick effect on food prices. Farmers will grow what yields the highest profit. We shouldn't be burning food (so to speak). I don't believe we could eat what they burn, but in effect we are since that land was taken out of food production. We owe a debt of gratitude to Archer Daniels Midland for this fiasco. It's an inefficient alternative as well as having a negative effect on food prices as I said above.

There has always BEEN poverty and there will always BE poverty. Just look around some of your more liberal (socialist) ""utopias"" that are DemocRat run (like New Orleans, for instance). You'll see even more poverty (and corruption) than in other areas of the country.
