utbrilliant article

Thank you for a brilliant piece of writing.

Reading the reactions to it one cannot but regret the immense strength of the prejudice against the overweight and obese in general and why they are fat in particular.

As a European I have grown up with the idea that being thin is part of the class one belongs to.

My very blueblooded mother was very lovely and very thin and could eat anything and never gain weight. I never did eat much and never raided any refrigerators yet I was always overweight until I discovered that I am simply allergic to carbohydrates which some of us perhaps very many overweight are. I never lost weight when exercising merely got hungry. I was constantly on fatfree diets which was torture. However when I learned that one does not get fat from fat but that it cuts hunger most efficiently and that a diet of butter, full fat cream (no milk, it is too sweet) cheese fat fish and fatty meats (bacon for instance) eggs and never bother about calories plus a minimum of carbohydrates I have lost all my kilos and now look as classy as any countess.

Unfortunately this simple clever solution is of no interest to a great deal of industries thriving on overweight.

Yet it is so good for one“s health. I am never hungry, I never have any urges for sweets, or alcohol and need very little food let alone my asthma is almost gone after years and years of endless cortisone inhalation and my blood sugar at dream levels.
