Quit Calling it 'Debt'
by fantomas

Hillary and Bill Clinton's collective net worth is over $100 million. Talk of Hillary's "Campaign Debt" is intended to make it sound as if there is some kind of re-payment plan that ought to be in place.

It's not like Visa or Mastercard are sending Hillary monthly statements of her 'debt': either she's paid all those caterers and cellphone bills or she hasn't.

The fact that Hillary doesn't want to get stuck with having to pay for her own quest for the presidency is something she should have thought through before she embarked on her campaign.

If the Clintons feel wronged about ending up with an $80 million net worth, maybe that's what has to happen for them to get a clue as to how the average American has fared in the past twenty years.

Looks to me like Hillary made a deal with Obama. Help me with this $20m and I'll campaign for you.

The fact is that probably every losing campaign (and probably a few winning ones) end up with loans outstanding at the end of a campaign. In Hillary's case I understand she lent her campaign about $11m and the rest is borrowed from other sources. She has a limited period after the end of her campaign in which to pay herself. The rest could be outstanding for a while before being paid back.

It does make you feel kinda bad that they are down to their last $90 mil.

Gee, I'm all broken up over the Clintons being a little less filthy rich than they were six months ago. What a tragedy.

McCain and his wife have $50 million in assets. I wonder how much he'll loan himself before November.
