dolphins in distress
by hairyharry

An excellent example of the supreme arrogance of man. Or at least of some men and women. Dolphins (as well as whales and other sea creatures) have undoubtedly been wandering into fresh water and killing themselves for thousands of years. Sad, but that's the way of nature.

If the species is scarce, MAYBE it's worth the effort to save them. But dolphins are plentiful. It's silly for rational people to expend more than minimal energy to try to trap or scare these dolphins back to the ocean, especially since such efforts stand as good a chance of killing the dolphins as the dolphins' own actions do.

Worst of all, there are those who would spend tax dollars to do it - tax dollars that could best be spent to help steer human children away from life's dangerous waters.

I agree with you that if the dolphins get in these situations in a natural way than let nature take its course. But my understanding is that some get in these situations because of changes man has made to nature e.g. building breakwaters, harbors, etc...

If that is the case then man can help.

Come on tax dollars shouldn't only be spent on killing Muslims in all parts of the world!
