Why Minnesotans don't like Franken
by bkeller49
History proves that Minnesotans don't really care about past gaffes made by candidates in the name of entertainment, after all we elected a governor who used to wear feather boas. I think the problem we have with Al is that he's a big smarty pants. Returning to the state as if he's going to save us from our misguided midwestern ways, thinking we would vote for him merely because he was a big star out there in TV land. We don't take to condescension very well. I was particularly turned off when he mocked a student's speech impediment at a rally at Carleton College.
Don't get me wrong, I'm a Dem all the way, and I can't stand Coleman, particularly since he jumped parties when he caught the wind direction in the 90s, but I'll be going into the voting booth holding my nose for this one. If Jesse jumps in I might just vote for him.
The sad thing is we had an well spoken thoughtful candidate in Jack Nelson-Palmeier who probably could have kicked Norm's ass this year. Instead we get the prodigal son, returned from the big city with carpetbag in hand.

Hey bkeller49,

Thank you for what I feel is a good insight into why Dems don't like Franken.

My question is - if he is really that bad, why did the Dems elect him over Nelson-Palmeier?
