I would agree with you that JFK is currently the most overrated, he was a third stringer at best. Withholding air support for the Bay of Pigs assured the Cubans of a miserable future under Fidel. Premier K thought he was a weakling that's why he put the missiles in Cuba. Then in a burst of utter stupidity JFK when he had the USSR on the ropes, takes the missiles out of Turkey, an concession totally unnecessary.
About the only useful thing he did was to cut the war time taxes, which stimulated the economy much as George Bush's tax cuts helped get us out of the Slick Willie recession.
Let us not forget that JFK sort of fluffed up his resume a bit, he was admitted to the London School of Economics, he never attended. I don't hold a man who is out playing drop the soap with some bimbo while his wife is in the hospital having a miscarriage all that great either.
To say he wouldn't have gotten us involved in VietNam is re-writing history. He ordered in the 16,000 advisor's. Johnson had the same advisor's as Kennedy it would have turned out exactly the same.
In conclusion remember that JFK was elected by Mayor Daly of Chicago, without the help of the corrupt Chicago Democratic Machine (see OBAMA) JFK would have lost.
Lastly his reputation as a lothario, his girlfriend when he was in the Navy and working in DC turned out to be a Nazi Spy. Good choice. Angie Dickinson is quoted as saying her tryst with JFK was the most exciting 15 seconds of her life.
