Why'd macho Spain in 1936 have no problem with a woman?
by theNairobiTrio

<link>

What am I missing here?

I thought feminism was invented here in the US by Betty Friedan and Gloria Steinem, long after the 30's.

What I'm wondering is - how did Dolores Ibarruri manage to raise her consciousness without a copy of "Our Bodies, Ourselves?"

And whether she needed the famous mirror to learn self-esteem.

Personally, I don't think she needed the mirror.

I think that when you esteem others, self-esteem comes naturally, without mirrors and "how-to" courses in using them.

And how about:

I wonder if her self-esteem came from a mirror?

I was watching the news out of Pamplona, and I heard 9 people were injured.

Thought for a moment you might have been one of those seriously trampled, or perhaps you took a horn up the ass.

Speaking of bull, it seems from your top post that you're implying that Spain has long been a bastion of women's rights, or, as usual, am I missing your point?

Try this.

Sure, rub it in

Spain and Pakistan can elect women leaders, but the US won't.

once again

fuck

That is what you get

Uh, no....

There is a reason they are billed as the second wave you knuckle-dragging obama-supporting woman-hating (though I do believe those last two may be redundant) troglodyte.

I support Obama.
by Archaeopteryx

And I don't hate women.

I do, however, have long arms, so my knuckles sometimes drag. But that whole knuckle-draggers-hate-women thing is a stereotype.

Obama supporters all look alike?
by Schmutzie

I support Obama too, and I don't hate women either.

Maybe I missed a memo or something.

Yeah, Trite.

They are called the "second-wave". and the reason they're called the "second-wave" is because of Cady Stanton and Anthony.

But what - what the fuck - what the double-fuck - do Stanton and Anthony have to do with the point I was making?

Plus - it can be seriously argued whether Stanton and Anthony can be considered "feminists" by any stretch of the imagination.

Schmutzie -

Maybe the problem isn't that I'm too hip for the room.

Maybe the problem is - you're not hip enough.

It gets even worser.
by DragonTat2

I support Obama, and not only do I not hate women, I am one.

I wonder if there's a special memo for women like me... if so, it has yet to arrive.

You definitely aren't too hip for the room old boy, and my level of hipness doesn't translate well to your language.

Probably weren't breast fed as a yoot, were ya?

Axelrod must be slipping DT2. I'll look into the misogyny memo mix-up and get back to you.
