Attack on McCain's war record?
by gfv6800

The column perpetuates false accusations against General Clark by a terse, dismissive ackknowledgement that his comments were sensible and proceeding to speak as though there HAD, in fact, been such an attack. To say that Obama must avoid discussing the issue is to pretend that McCain's pretense of expertise in military and foreign affairs, based on his military service, has validity.

If the media would take the trouble to give unbiased reports, those reports would demonstrate that Clark gave respect for McCain's service but simply denied the fiction that such service gave him unique qualification for the presidency. Clark was right; but no one chooses to write about it as truth rather than treating the whining outrage of Mr. McCain, and his surrogates who came out to denounce the use of surrogates, as though there were serious issues to be addressed.

This column is a disservice to truth.

The real story is that McCain misled voters by claiming that he'd been attacked. The bottom line....McCain lied.
McCain lied?

I wouldn't go that far. Even the candidates get their news through media filter and word of mouth. America's political system is very broken. I blame cable news.

Naw, he lied.

Did McCain get the news of his walk through the Baghdad Market from Faux News? If so, that might explain why John didn't know that there were 200 American soldiers shadowing him, standing on every surrounding rooftop, flying overhead in gunships and closing the access roads into the market.....cuz if he was there at the time then he'd have know that the only reason he was safe was because of American firepower.....not because the terrorists were defeated.

He lied.

McCain has learned the tried and proven far right winning policy: attack your opponent with factual, non-factual and non true statements.

The same individuals that are using these tactics for McCain were the same ones who said in 2000 that McCain had a black baby.

I never though I would see McCain stup this low. He is running his legacy.

Respectfully,

attack your opponent with factual, non-factual and non true statements.

Well.....that certaintly explains all your posts.

Its called politics people, its what they do. Put a bufoon on national TV who says something stupid like, "I invented the Internet" or "I voted for it before I voted againist" or "I don't think being shot down qualifies you blah blah blah"........

You take it and you run with it, especially when your opponent is having trouble carrying votes in say ohhhhhh the midwest........ Grow up. The only people keeping this story alive are you guys by your continually complaining about it.

It McCain's strongest issue, I don't even know why Obama would even send someone on the attack (let alone Clark) to challenge it. He is much better off talking about the economy at this point in the game. Jeez louise,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Re: Its called POLITICS

1. Gore never said "I invented the internet"

2. If people understood how bills go through Congress they'd have thought about what it means when a Senator votes on a bill more than once.

3. Nobody attacked McCain's military record. Pretending that there was an attack is lying to the voters.

Thats my point. It does not matter how things actually work its how it plays to the public.

Keep that in mind the next time you only use half of McCains 100 years quote.

Re: Its called POLITICS

using half of the context of a quote is politics. Lying is lying......

Nobody attacked McCain's service. Calling it an attack is a lie. If you want to vote for a liar, go ahead. I'd guess this won't be the first time for you.

A democratic election landslide in November would do it.

The Dems know Obama is small, compared to McCain, in terms of life achievements, accomplishment, character, they got nothing. And, as the case with liberal Democrats, they succeed, or they operate, not by building themselves up, rather by hiding themselves and trying to destroy the character and reputations, credibility of their opponents, wherever they might be.

After doing that, they go out and trumpet to the world that it is the Republicans that play dirty politics by lying, etc.
Re: Its called POLITICS

1. It was Karl Rove who ran the campaign against McCain in South Carolina. Not the democrats.

2. In 2000 the republicans accused McCain of having an illegitimate child by a prostitute. They called him the manchurian candidate, they said that he'd cooperated with the enemy and that he'd had a homosexual relationship. They also revealed that Cindy McCain had stolen drugs to feed her habit and that she had somehow evaded prosecution.

3. So far McCain and the republicans have called the democrats "defeatocrats" and pro-terrorist....even anti-American. They have lied about what Wesley Clark said about McCain.

Sorry bubba. It is the republicans who engage in smear and slander.
