The XY Factor

Do women ever get tired of talking and obsessing about themselves? Inquiring minds really want to know. It seems to me that it would get tiresome after a while. The banter about abortion is so hideously one-sided and slanted, no wonder the 'war of the sexes' is raging like never before. Whether one believes in a 'higher life force' or not; the mechanics of birthing is nothing short of a miracle, probably not to be taken lightly in any manner of speaking. Seems women are so damned hell bent on forcing their inalienable 'right to abortion' on the masses, ad naseum, they have forgotten or lost in translation the most important issue of all. Do civilization a favor? Take a day off. After forty years, we're tired of the same old, same old.

Well, it seems that the legislators and various assorted power-seekers are pretty obsessed with women too - they keep passing laws and writing op-eds and and forming cults such as the FLDS, and preaching from their pulpits, specifically to dictate every single minute aspect of a woman's life.
'right to abortion' on the masses

What I'm tired is really stupid post like yours. How does one 'force' something on another when all they are trying to do is secure a right for themselves? THINK!

The same bogus POV is used with regards to same-sex-marriage. LOOK, no one is forcing anyone to HAVE AN ABORTION or to marry someone of the same gender!

The 'forcing' is done by YOUR KIND, by passing laws the RESTRICT the behavior of others!

The only reason abortion is still an issue is because people still with to take a women's right to have an abortion away!

If you want the issue of abortion to 'go away' than tell Christians to go away and drop their fight to ban abortions!

The hell bent people are the fools that believe in hell, heaven and all the other voodoo and myths.

and forming cults such as the FLDS

That particular group has been around for about 150 years. Try again.

FirstInLastOut,

To the observant reader,

"keep ...forming cults such as the FLDS"

would indicate activity over an unspecified period of time, regarding the formation of cults not necessarily relating specifically or only to the FLDS, but similar to the precepts of the FLDS.

Not to be a grammar nazi, but you should have said:

"keep ...forming cults similar to the FLDS"

The way you worded it was ambiguous, hence my misunderstanding of your meaning.

While we're on the subject... Since when does writing op-eds and preaching from a pulpit have any real power over anyone? Unless you are in a cult, and those are extreme examples not representative of the majority.

The only authority in the list you cite is passing laws... What laws in particular have been controlling every aspect of a woman's life? Seriously, if you can come up with a recent example I would be interested in seeing it. I want to know because I keep hearing about how women are still being controlled by "the man" in America, but no one seems to be able to come up with an actual example.

Well, not to continue splitting the grammatical hair, but neither did I intend to exclude the FLDS as an example of one of the cults formed over time that tended to use practices that were highly restrictive and sometimes harmful to women and girls.

However, I accept your criticism that I could have been more clear, and I understand now that your misunderstanding of my meaning was, er..understandable.

peace,

samuraiam
