If you could pick your best candidate over the ages
by IndyGal

To come in now and take over the helm of our country in this crucial period

Who would it be?

Lincoln was the best leader throughout time. If you meant a current leader, I would pick Rudy Guliani.

Fair choices. I would consider Ronald Reagan or Teddy Roosevelt. I cannot think of a living politician I trust or feel comfortable with at this moment.

He might do pretty well if he were given another chance in office.

The best one is all ready running.

Obama 08

good call on TR
by Jeff
I don't think Reagan because Reagan backed down from radical islam in Lebanon. He was part of the policy since Carter to try and contain the problem instead of dealing with it. TR however, he had a lot of great qualities that would help us in the War on Terror and deal with economic issues.

Come on Judy if you really believe that you are in way too deep!

Obama doesn't even have enough of a record to be in the running for best of all ages!

Obama in 2008!

To fix today's problems, it wouldn't help to

go back and get someone who did a good job on yesterday's, necessarily. We could use someone with the ability Washington had to see that he shouldn't grab power, the ability Lincoln had to speak and deal with a divided country, the skill at expression in writing of Jefferson, the charisma of JFK and the diplomatic skill of Ben Franklin. The closest we see to any of that today is Obama.
FDR
by RScommon
More importantly, the compassion and empathy of Eleanor Roosevelt.
