obama postion on fisa ....point by point and the REAL truth
by dems rock
+2/-2 Reply

hey stinky

here is PROOF that obama will sign a bill with MORE telecom immunity for the phone co's

obama says:

But in a free society, that authority cannot be unlimited. As I've said many times, an independent monitor must watch the watchers to prevent abuses and to protect the civil liberties of the American people. This compromise law assures that the FISA court has that responsibility.

This is just false. The new FISA bill that Obama supports vests new categories of warrantless eavesdropping powers in the President (.pdf), and allows the Government, for the first time, to tap physically into U.S. telecommunications networks inside our country with no individual warrant requirement. To claim that this new bill creates "an independent monitor [to] watch the watchers to prevent abuses and to protect the civil liberties of the American people" is truly misleading, since the new FISA bill actually does the opposite -- it frees the Government from exactly that monitoring in all sorts of broad categories.

here is the rest of the article....linked up by huffington

How is point out Obama's position on issues 'helping the cons'?????

If that is true than it is OBAMA that is helping the cons.

If you can just admit that Obama is taking stands that you are surprised by then we can move on, but you continue to NOT do this.

Are you saying that Huffington is also helping the cons? I guess we just all have to shut up and say 'Obama is king, long live the king'!

I'm with you on this one AND you have made it clear that you are still going to vote for Obama so it was totally unfair and uncalled for to imply you were helping cons.

You were just pointing out reality to those that wish to bury their head in the sand. Keep up the good work!

the hope heads would RATHER talk about ME rather than the ISSUES....its their MAJOR weakness

and frankly im sick and freakin TIRED of it

as i have said many times over the last few days

obama is kicking his OWN self in the ass, if that is possible

i certainly didnt make obama LIE about his positions in order to win the nomination

Then since you are so objective, go back where she said I was helping cons on another subject. What goes around comes around.

'Afternoon, Dems! Hope you had a nice 4th!

Obama's the DNC's "Hydra"...he has nine heads and speaks out of nine mouths. His position depends on which mouth he's speaking out of.

He's a flip-flopping wanker.

Hillary was right...with Obama, the Democrats who voted for him are getting what they deserve.

After shaking hands with him, his supporters better check to make sure they still have 5 fingers on their hands...he's already stolen their money and their votes...what's next?

:-)

If you read your post you will see that it references, repeatedly, the fact that warrantless wiretaps are allowed on international calls. That is nothing new. The original FISA bill did much the same. What the Bush folks had been doing was following the calls to include domestic calls. If my friend in Israel calls me, then the NSA would consider that as justification to tap my phone and would include domestic calls.

The ACLU did not seem to draw a distinction between civil and criminal actions against the Telcos. The FISA bill does not prevent criminal actions against the telcos. It also does not prevent criminal action against the government officials who ordered the wiretaps.

It makes no sense to me that people would sue the telco and therefore punish the stockholders for what they were instructed to do by government officials.....It does make sense that the government official who ordered it would go to jail.

Here ya go Jazz

"Jesse" is typical of his kind (and also another poster who shall remain nameless--LOL)... resorting to petty personal attacks and namecallng when refutation of the post in impossible.

They get crampy and cranky when their idols are shown in their true light.

what about THIS did you not read and understand????
