Fot those interested in donation
by Animalia

I have read quite a few of the messages and some of you had very good ideas. There DOES need to be a more structured way of donating books-to help avoid duplications and also to help with shipping. I admit that until I looked into it I had no idea how much shipping was. And I personally have a very nice collection of science books-from textbooks to general reading that I was going to sell, but would much rather donate.

So first I think we need a database or online spreadsheet that people can check first to see if the book they are considering has already been sent. And we do need some kind of centralized shipping location that would allow for discounted bulk shipping.

I emailed the university to ask them about how open to the public and other students the library would be, what they will do with duplicate copies, and also if they will refuse books they deem to be controversial.

So if anyone has some ideas or suggestions please let me know.

Thanks.

The simplest and most effective way I can think of for solving this problem would be to make use of an existing database that is well known and efficient. The answer stares use in the face. Why not set up an Amazon wishlist?
