No Mention that America is An Occupier?
by Usama2
+1 Reply

A peculiar article which lovingly avoids holding any culpability for America in causing human reactions to be radicalized. It certainly absolves the US govt.

So Hurrah to the compelling general who has implemented a campaign to lobotomize Iraqis, robbing them of the idea of being free of foreign occupation, suppressing the concept of self determination free of foreign manipulation and intervention.

In fact, its quite clear that "moderation" in Iraq means "acceptance with subjugation" to American imperial interests in Iraq, which include acquisition of oil rights, long term military supremacy which includes regional hegemonic control using Iraq as a hub which will exacerbate military conflict and violence in Iraq's neighbors.

July 4th is a telling holiday: America's declaration of independence from the British empire celebrated as monumental. Yet it is celebrated on a day as American empire furthers to subjugate peoples in foreign lands for American interests.

Hypocricy doesn't begin to describe it.

Go back and re-read Usama. Teaching people to read their own holy works is not 'lobotimozing'.

How you get such a viewpoint has more to do with what's already in your head, not what was written

Also not in that article. Beyond the scope of what was stated there in fact.

I see that you have your 'wn agenda. But this belief that 'American subjugation is here to stay' you spout is far from reality. Just that you don't see that such a direction is far to costy as this whole situation has been costly, you have blinders on.

He speaks ideas that seem to prevail in the Mideast AND the left, WORLDWIDE.

Wrenn tries to say that Wrenn knows Koran better than Usama2 and lot of Muslims. Fancy that!

Among my fellow Jews, I perceive that the observant sects practice and believe in many twisted things that USA's armies and scholars could straighten out. But it just won't happen!

And the answer is???????

My question is ,why do they fear freedom? Is it the fact that they lose control of the people once they are allowed to make their own decisions? After all "Freedom" will be our gift to Iran, something that they have not experienced in recorded history. We are not occupiers, if we were we would own a very large part of Europe and Asia.

Nope. I said that he misread the article. Nothing else.
It just goes to show that people see what they want to see.

Read this and you will find Iran had a very Democratic Government before the U.S. and Great Britain overthrew it. What more do you want to do to these people? Everyone should read the facts and stay out of other peoples business. Above all kindness to strangers.

I think you want "us" to teach them their writings.
by Sovereign8
There's nothing rationally wrong with that.

But the situation is NOT rational.

Even among Jews, the various sects teach stuff that they claim to be BASED on writings. But most "rational" Jews don't care if it is or isn't. Among the sects, there are conflicts that reach violence even tho most Jews don't care about one side or the other. It apears that the Muslims have a similar situation, but most of them are involved in the sects and are not secular.

I interpret your position to be that it would be good for Americans or their proxies to "help" Muslims read their texts more rationally and avoid sects twisting the words of the texts. I'd caution you that you couldn't do that with the Jewish sects.

If you understand how difficult it is to reach inside the sects, you'll perceive that getting them to read better is worse than useless.

You'd have to get their religious leaders to preach something different, regardless of the texts. That could be done only by a strong effort by "The Great Powers" acting together to stop the insanity. Note that many scholars claim that the powerful classes in Muslim society want their masses to feel hatred towards what you call "civilization."

It has nothing to do with reading.
they want them to hate the west
by jazzguitarman

Hating the west and western civilization is key for these Muslim leaders and imams to stay in power. Great tactic like the GOP used with the Red-Scare.

Tend to agree, sadly

Yes, our leaders are desperate to continue what they see as the American Empire, our hegemony over the whole world.

And we wonder why others take exception?
