DO AMERICANS BELIEVE OUR FLAG IS A SYMBOL OF OPPRESSION?
by Lulubelle22

I think that was a really long article that really said nothing.

The bottom line is that unless people believe along with Obama that our flag is a "symbol of oppression" they will not be voting for him.

Myself, I don't see my flag as a symbol of oppression. I see it as a symbol of generosity and strength.

Too bad Obama doesn't.

Obama said "There are a lot of people in the world to whom the American flag is a symbol of oppression". Do you question this? Don't you agree that even the most self-declared American patriot needs to understand it? That it might be beneficial for our nation if we worked to make it less so? Greg Shenaut

No, I don't doubt that some people see us that way. So what? I guess that's the real question, what exactly should we do about it, if anything? Really, do you think those terrorists are losing sleep over the fact that we Americans don't like them and don't agree with them? I doubt it, therefore why should we? Reasonable people can disagree, and I will gladly debate a reasonable European over the death penalty, socialized medicine, etc. I won't waste two seconds of my time on the terrorists, I'd rather blow them all to hell.

"There are a lot of people in the world to whom the American flag is a symbol of oppression"

Just imagine John McCain saying that--he wouldn't, not in a million years. I mean, sure, technically you could even say "Some people think Gandhi was a criminal" or "A lot of people believe Christians are infidels", but the only people I've heard say things like that are the ones who believe the statements to some degree themselves. It's a screen I admit I've used myself: "Some people might say blacks have a genetic predisposition for lower intelligence than whites", for example. Maybe I'm dead wrong, but my gut tells me Barack feels an indulgent twinge of anger when he sees the flag waved.

Evidently, when McCain sees an American flag, he sees an opportunity to make his mark: <link> Greg Shenaut

Lulubelle, you are either an idiot or a liar.

Obama never said that HE believes the US flag is a symbol of oppression. He said that many in the world, unfortunately, do.

Now, either you know your statement is wrong, and for that you are an un-American liar trying to deform a fair election outcome with slander, or your are too stupid to read clearly.

I suspect it's a combination of the two.

No, I don't question that some people see our flag of a symbol of oppression.

I question that a man who says he doesn't want to be "taking sides" running for president.

He shouldn't give a crap that those people see our flag as a symbol of oppression. He should be standing up and counting himself an American who does NOT see it as a symbol of oppression.

But he didn't do that, did he? No, the coward sayd he didn't want to appear to be "taking sides". Well, if you don't want to take sides, then don't run for president of this country.

And furthermore, whose side is he on?

Maybe you Obama fans should be asking yourself that question before you vote this November.

Before you jump on people why don't you read his whole statement?

He said he does not want to appear to be "taking sides". What the heck is wrong with you? How can a man expect to be president if he doesn't want to take our side?

Whose side is he on?

What, does he have to tattoo it on his forehead for idiots like you that connot read his statement and see that he does NOT care about this country or its customs?

What about the fact that he took our Presidential Seal and desecrated it which, by the way, is against the law?

Do you have to be hit in the head with a two-by-four to get where he is at?
