This is very strange. This week I was taking a very hard look at a new router on the market at NextCom. The company is called Zuegma Networks.

Syllepsis and zeugma were lovers,
Lordy, how they could love!
Swore to be true to each other
as true as the stars above.
He was her man
but he done her wrong.

Sorry for the flip response, Z-B.

I know it's a very important step in the calculation of water table longevity under arable land in the Ring of Kerry.

Why don't you post another one of your psychotic funnies, and then go whine about how you're the perennial outsider. Poor ciinc, nobody loves him no more. Anyone who litters as much garbage as you do belongs with the brain-dead schmucks and loons.

"Been Out So Long"

Well, I've been out so Goddamn long
That it looks like in to me
Well, I've been out so very damn long
That it looks like in to me
Yeah, why don't one you people
C'mon and set me free

I said, Ender, Geoff, Moira
Won't you break your lock and key
I said, Appy, Iso, J-D
Won't ya break your lock and key
Yeah, come along here, massas
C'mon and let this poor boy be

Baby, baby, baby
Won't you get down on your knees
Baby, baby, baby
Won't you get down on your knees
C'mon little darlin'
C'mon and give your love to me, oh yeah

Well, I've been out so Goddamn long
That it looks like in to me
Well, I've been out so very damn long
That it looks like in to me
Yeah, why don't one you people
C'mon, c'mon, c'mon and set ciinc free

Re: Syllepsis ≠ Zeugma

Is this post metaphorical? Would you think I'm a fucking idiot if I admitted to not knowing what the hell this stuff means? I went chasing around the internet, and all I could dig up that seemed to apply was...

On Metaphoring: A Cultural Hermeneutic. by Kuang Ming Wu.

One verb with compound objects "Much the place he admired-the person more." (Uncle Milton) Z

"Anna does sometimes counsel take-and sometimes tea." (Pope) S

The yoking in zeugma agrees grammatically and semantically with both its subjects and its objects, but in syllepsis it agrees with only one.

We usually suppose that syllepsis is a species under the genus zeugma....

That's about as far as I got, then I decided to start drinking. Schmutzie does sometimes counsel take-and sometimes chianti.

" I was told there would be no math."~ Chevy Chase as Gerald Ford.

Thas' ok, zeebie.

As Billy Holliday once sang:

God bless the child that's got his own

And I got mine right here at BotF last night, from someone who apparently can tell a hawk from a handsaw.

Now that I recognize.

Do you know that the name of that band was inspired by Huxley's Doors of Perception? Of course you do.

What I think of you has nothing to do with this post. You should know that already.
I actually did see that word first
by Woolley
this week in Vegas at the show. Zuegma Networks is a startup router company trying to compete on QOS and layer 5-7 traffic management. You just posted that word again so I thought maybe you knew about the company. Looks like I was wrong.

If 99% Of The Current Crop of Morons
by Zeus-Boy
who excrete here consider my post jibberish, then that's only parity for what that 99% posts. There was a minor saving moment latterly [zuko's barber thing], but the clown had to go and spoil it by uprating his own post and then posting the usual brainless rubbish. I see no difference between my post and the bilge that bubbles forth from the cranial cavities of b-a or that wgconnell loon.

I am curious though, what in the world is zeugma and why do people from the British Isles think its cool? They named their startup after something that sounds like smegma. None of us could pronounce the name last week and had a great laugh over it. Then, you, an Irish contributor bring it up here. What is the origin of this and what in the world got you to mention it?
