do investors have no sense of karma

if you want the best profit margin, screw the employees. use slave labor. GAP--other multinational corporations do it. Nike.

But if investors want sustainable growth--that is growth that is independent of customers who are turned off by such tactics--growth that won't be affected by changes to labor laws or a changing world economy--obviously Costco provides a better model.

This article doesn't even mention the environment.
Maybe investors need to think of the world they are creating with their capital and not just the capital they are creating with their cash (do any of them sleep easier at night knowing that for 2% better growth some workers got locked in walmart at night and the company withheld wages...etc. etc.) Sick.

Not to mention Walmart's externalized costs to communities that need to pay the extra welfare benefits for health for walmart employees.

Stupid investors have no sense of what the world is really like for someone who works at walmart or creates their products--or it would be a no brainer to get out of the walmart and cabal industries.

Ah... you do know how much money Wal-Mart has made and for how long, right? Isn't Wal-Mart a lot bigger than Costco?
