What's a Girl To Do?
by Slawrence5

Why not just become a practical journalist. There is a practical point of view on almost every issue. To take any one political viewpoint is limiting one's ability to write on what is the most valid position on most topics. Also you will be espousing viewpoints that can be more effectively supported. No political viewpoint has a monopoly on the best ideas.

When I hear of someone saying they want to support a "Conservative" viewpoint, my initial reaction is that this is merely a career choice. Everyone knows that the right wing - not true conservatives in my opinion, even if they call themselves that - is lavish in financially rewarding those who spew their venem. Is that what you want?

a good paying gig!

Hey as a musician I use to have to play music I didn't like just for the $$$.

So it is all in how one defines 'practical journalist'. I would say that being practical means that one can pay their bills! So often being practical means selling out (picking a course and sticking to it because that is where the $$$ is)!

Once someone has made it THEN they can be less practical.
