McCains record
by NickD

John McCain served his country admirably. So have millions of other Americans both in and out of uniform.

A wheelchair bound man who selflishly works for charities all of his life serves his country admirably.

The private who spends three years cleaning latrines and doing the best he can before spending his life working hard in a menial job serves his nation and society admirably.

A man who is captured and held prisoner serves his country admirably.

A person who raises a family and does her best to have a successful career serves her country admirably.

But none of the above exclusively make one person more fit than the other to lead the free world.

These spin doctors and attack monsters are already showing they have no qualms about twisting simple comments completely out of context in order to create a political issue where none exist. These "people", and the term is used loosely, do NOT serve their country admirably. The author of this article and blow hard jerks like Limbaugh are some of the worst people this nation has to offer our society. They create more harm than the corner drug dealer.

The word selflishly should have read selflessly. It was not inted to read as selfishly.

Yeah, it would be pretty hard to work selfishly for charities all your life. :)
Republican record
by middleview

Why have people forgotten the republican assault on veterans like Max Cleland, John Kerry and now Wesley Clark?

Max Cleland's face was morphed into Osama Bin Laden by Saxby Chamblis' campaign. What an overwhelming insult to all wounded and disabled veterans.....Ann Coulter claimed that Senator Cleland was wounded while on a beer run, not in a combat zone....

John Kerry was portrayed as having awarded himself commendations. Something that was clearly a lie and would cast doubt on every decorated veteran.....did they earn it or did they award themselves a medal.

And lastly, Wesley Clark. He offered a coherant opinion on the skills learned as a pilot, POW, or commanding officer of a small military unit. Now McCain has lied about what the General said. He has claimed that Clark smeared his service.

McCain is clearly not of the caliber of individual we need to replace George W. Bush to set the country on the right course.

Really? Look into what the CEO of United Way makes.

or the heart association.

one question, are you right or is Obama. He said what was said was said poorly and comments like that should not be used.

I think that all this talk saying that what was said was correct and that McCain is a bum really is a bit sad. What is incredible is how often they talk about how terrible the Rep's were when they attracted Kerry while they do the same thing to McCain. I think they need to take a good look in the mirror.

Re: McCains record

Clark did not say that McCain is a bum. If anything, I think he is because of his attempt to turn Clark's comments into something that they weren't. McCain is misleading voters by calling Clark's words an attack. McCain lied.

The republicans said that Kerry didn't earn his medals. They said that he falsified reports to get commendations he didn't deserve. They implied that he murdered an unarmed boy. Don't forget the republican attack on Max Cleland. Ann Coulter said that Cleland lost two legs and an arm because of a beer run, not because he was in a combat zone. Saxby Chamblis ran an ad that morphed Max's face into Osama Bin Laden's. How can that be forgiven? How can that be compared to Clark's statement about McCain?

What did Clark say that you would characterize as an attack?

Re: Republican record

This is just a taste of the twisting lying horseshit that we will see from the hate wing of the right. McCain has served admirably in his career, many years ago he might have made for a decent president. But his time has past and he is not who we need in the WhiteHouse. There is nothing wrong with his military service and no one has ever said there was, its just that his military service should not be the only factor in selecting a president.

Nothing slanderous or insulting about any of it.

Re: McCains record

I did not say Clarke said he was a bum. I think what Clarke said was pretty dumb and I think that it was a bit demeaning in that it seemed to imply that what McCain went through is of no consequence.

Does it mean he should be president no. But it was an idiotic statement that even Obama realized how stupid it was that he came out against it.

But what is being said here about McCain is disgraceful. I have read that he was a Viet Cong sympathizer who was a war criminal who made Jane Fonda look like a right wing patriot.

If it is wrong for one to do it, it is wrong for all.

Re: McCains record

Other than reading that insane comment in your reply I have never heard nor read anything even remotely close to it. Most likely, if someone really wrote that garbage it was someone who actually likes McCain and was building a straw man for other people to attack.
Re: McCains record
by middleview

Clark's statement was not an attack. It did not suggest that McCain's imprisonment was of no consequence....it said that it was not applicable to the skills needed to be president. I don't think the president will need to tap out messages in morse code on the pipes to communicate with his fellow White House occupants.

The republicans have engaged in wholesale slander against Kerry, Max Cleland and now Wesley Clark.....you cite a couple of wacko bloggers as some kind of evidence of opinions on the left. I agree with you that those bloggers are morons, but if there are more than a couple of them I'd be surprised.

On the other hand, I am talking about the efforts of the republican party.

As long as there are liberals who resent every free breath of air drawn and who work unceasingly to destroy freedom and dignity, there will be the need for patriots like Rush Limbaugh to show them up for the creepy, self indulgent parasites they are.

Re: McCains record

Do you actually believe this shit?

Rush, the one with the cyst on his ass that kept him from serving, is a patriot? He is doing what he is doing for a ton of money, not because of any sense of sacrifice for his nation.

Any fool who thinks Limbaugh is some kind of patriot needs serious mental evealuation.

That lying blowhard is the biggest self indulgent parasite this nation has ever seen. To call him a patriot is to show how easily you are manipulated.

Re: predicto

Now, he did run too many commercials on his TV show so that I didn't bother to watch it anymore, but hey, being a little greedy didn't hurt other patriotic reputations like LBJs and Hillary's all of which profited immensely from government service. Think about it, even George Washington used the government for profit. His whiskey distillery being the most profitable operation on his farm he sent the federal troops into the Ohio Valley to kill his competition in the Whiskey Rebellion. Don't get me wrong, I consider GW the greatest patriot for human dignity since Oliver Cromwell, Cincinnatus and Xenophon. I just don't require perfection of anyone but God.
