Clark is correct
by progressivebulldog

McCain's military experience does not necessarily qualify him to be president. McCain has no executive experience so Clark's statement was correct if politically boneheaded.

The implication that being in the miltary and being a POW makes him somehow more qualified to lead then Obama is ludicrous.

Of course McCain and his surrogates claim that somehow Clark's pointing out McCain's lack of executive experience was a knock on McCain's military service which was simply not the case.

Of course what is particularly galling is while McCain manufactures outrage against Clark for an imagined attack on his military service his campaign just hired Swift Boater Bud Day. Remember the Swift Boaters in 2004 and how they disparged John Kerry's military record?

I guess in McCain's mind telling the truth (military experience does not equal executive experience) is off limits but hiring a man who did attack another veteran's record is just fine.

Look, nobody thinks that Wes Clark is a "professional politician". He's as much of a "staright shooter" as McCain claims to be and it frequently ends up in a case of "foot in mouth" disease. And before everyone goes all cockeyed. Wes Clark was SHOT REPEATEDLY in the line of duty..and continued to lead his men DESPITE those injuries.

Wes Clark EARNED his stars, the hard way. And he has earned the right to say any damn thing he likes about ANYONE'S military service.

But I will simply not accept that we, the American public, are to take John McCain's word for the fact that he is qualified to be president. That is Complete Bull.

And since McCain has offered no real argument for being qualified except his "biography tour", we are left to presume that they teach classes in global economics, constitutional law, civic leadership, and world history..in the Hannoi Hilton. Obviously untrue. And since he graduated 894th from a class of 899..I'm guessing he wasn't exactly an honor student when he did go to school.

Of course this needs to be discussed, openly.John McCain's new "poor old soldier" as victim who may not be questioned position is not only outrageous. It sure smells like the "idea" we were all concerned with in 2000.

Does being George Bush's son make you qualified to be President? As it turned out, we were right to be concerned.

I will not be forced to "self censor" from my mind and the public eye, the fact that John McCain has almost no reasonable policy and may, quite frankly, be senile.

No idea where Sudan is.

No idea who's sunni and who's shi'a.

Thinks de-regulating the health insurance industry is a good idea.

And can't comprehend the VERY BASIC concept that a POTUS has a lot more to do than be the Commander-in-Chief. And that those other things are AT LEAST as important.

The President guides the ship of stae to safe harbors..he doesn't just ride the cannons to war.

America has suffered through 8 years of an idiot who has no domestic policy, we really can't take another 4.

I honor McCain's service and indeed his sacrifice. But many others have sacrificed MUCH more, and they are not necesssarily qualified to be President either.

We are not selecting for a reality show here people.
