New poll - Michelle O. viewed as less favorable than Cindy M

In a new Associated Press-Yahoo News poll, when comparing the two potential first ladies, Michelle Obama fared poorly against Cindy McCain.

The public hasn't taken to Michelle Obama yet, especially whites. And it's got a question about Cindy McCain: Who is she?
People are divided over whether they like the wife of Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama, with 30 percent seeing her favorably and 35 percent unfavorably, according to an Associated Press-Yahoo News poll released Wednesday.

They tilt positively toward the spouse of Republican hopeful John McCain, by 27 percent to 17 percent.

In other words: While the two women are about equally liked, Michelle Obama is twice as disliked as Cindy McCain.

This not surprising, in that 3 in 10 Americans admit to racial bias. Michelle, who is African-American and a Princeton- and Harvard-educated lawyer, is still suffering from smear attacks questioning her patriotism, after her remark last February in Wisconsin: "For the first time in my adult lifetime, I am really proud of my country"

Even in this article, the word "really" has been conveniently edited out of the quote. Also, it has been edited out of the video clip of her speech.

I am an audio engineer; I edit dialog for a living. If you go here and listen to the speech, you can tell the word really was edited out of the speech. Quite frankly, I've done better editing jobs!

Cindy McCain, however, appears to receive a hands-off treatment from the media.

"Cindy seems like she's laid back and not trying to run her husband," said Linda Kaiser, 60, a Republican and church secretary from Clairton, Pa. "It's nice to have a brain, but they should let their husband be president."

Of course, the media has all but ignored Cindy’s sordid past, like her illicit affair with McCain while he was still married to his first wife, Carol. Also over-looked is Cindy’s documented addition to opioid painkillers, which it is said was aggrevated by the emotional distress she suffered from the Keating Five scandal, in which she was implicated. Cindy was a bookkeeper who conveniently had difficulty finding receipts. Cindy resorted to stealing drugs to support her habit, from her own American Voluntary Medical Team, which she founded.

Of course, the American public is not the brightest when it comes to discerning the facts...just look at the last eight years!

Michelle represents a quadruple threat to Republicans; she's black, educated, strong, and she's a woman!

I know you won't mind if I say that whomever they polled, must have been a bunch gathered at a secret meeting of GW Bush and McCain...behind closed doors and in the middle of the night, after six hours of non-stop drinking.

Give me the down to earth, and HIGHLY intelligent Michele Obama, whose common sense rating is probably higher than the dollars Mz mealy-mouthed , goody two shoes, who inherited her millions.

Given a choice between down to earth, friendly, and common acting and the 'crooked little finger gripping a tea cup, I'll take the former first, and every time.

They must lead a damned boring life to do that.

We've got her number, and she isn't fooling most of us at all.

I don't mind at all. According to the demographics, I really think it is representative of the prevalent racism in our country, and to a certain extent, sexism. Cindy is representative of the stereotypical Stepford Wives that Republicans so adore!

Cindy McCain looks and acts like a Stepford wife. I don't think I've ever seen a Black one though.

Rasmussen had a poll today which showed that Dems now hold a 41% to 31% advantage in voter registrations so maybe that will render the aversion to Michelle pointless.

Those Stepford wives didn't look half bad as I recall and any woman that can snap her fingers and have a truckload of beer delivered has my heart from the git-go.....

It was my understanding that she made the same comment on two different occasions?

Was the audio altered on both of them?

(I haven't searched them out, so the questions are meant as just that, questions...)

I've looked everywhere

And I haven't been able to find a variance in the speech. As far as I can tell, she used the word "really" in both.

"I'm a girl who grew up in a working-class neighborhood in Chicago … let me tell you, of course I'm proud," she said. "Nowhere but in America could my story be possible."

"What I was talking about is pride in the political process," she said.

Well, I have great sympathy for Cindy and her drug addiction. Do you realize how she got it? Of course you just love to dig up dirt on anyone you don't like. She had chronic back pain and could not tolerate it. I know several people who deal with this. As a former nurse I know the problems and they can't deal with it. How would YOU like to have back pain every single day of your life? of course you are quick to slam people with this problem. This is why a simple example of the reason I don't come here anymore. geez the negative crap that is here makes me sick. You all would just love to slam people. Well I won't. You know what? I got drugs illegally for my brother in law who could not deal with his cancer so he could live out his days on this hell on earth at least without pain. The doctors would not give it to him. their reason???? He might get addicted to it. geez he had terminal cancer hello? So I would suggest you would think before you blast people..... LOL Anna I am out of here I should not have ever came and posted this but I am sick of people slamming other people. Have a good fourth of July weekend, I intend to.

Anna,Thank you for that wonderful post about human suffering.

As a Nurse you understand better than anyone else.

Also wasn't that addiction quite some time ago? I too, was given medication when events in my life were too much to deal with.My Doctor insisted I take the medication. That I needed it.Somewhere in my mind I knew that pills were not the answer. They just cover what you have to deal with in real life.I quit taking them because I was afraid of addiction, even though my doctor was insisting I needed them.I found out later they were very mild,like.05,but it made me flaot on a cloud since I was not used to medication.

I have seen the suffering of people with chronic back pain and a couple on this board knows how bad it it.
