The Only 2 EQUATIONS in the UNIVERSE, you NEED to KNOW
by LamontCranston

When you're ready to pull that Lever, in the Voting Booth, come this November 2008.

1. E=Mc2

and

2. BUSH=McCAIN=BUSH

Old Man, Same-Old-Same-Old, Loose Cannon John McCain, is a "Bush Clone".

A "Bush Clone" who wants to Keep getting OUR KIDS KILLED for another ONE HUNDRED YEARS.

Vote NO for a THIRD TERM from BUSH McSAME

It's as simple as that.

Wouldn't you agree?

Of course you do, if you're a Freedom Loving American.

Of course you don't, if your one of those Bush "Dead-Enders" or Bush "Kool-Aid Drinkers", or a Bush "Boot-Licker", or one of those sick and pathetic Bush "Jock Strap Sniffers".

This is exactly the type of rhetoric employeed--effectively--by the Bush administration. If you support the opposition you are inherently bad, if you support 'us' you are a tru patriot.

What a bunch of boojive! It wasn't true when Bush/Rove used it, and it isn't true now. People who support John McCain are hardly Bush appologists. They are people who happen to think that John McCain's vision for America makes more sense than Barak Obama's.

Since you spoke of McCain's vision for America, it seems only right that I ask you what that vision is. It seems to have escaped the rest of us, probably because it seems to be so similar to the disreputable Shrub's delusions. Oh, yeah, there's the one exception, the global warming fact. McCain acknowledges it's a problem whereas Bush catered to his big oil buddies and said it needed more study.

McCain makes a lot of his "standing up to the president" about global warming. Yet what I remember most is the images of him stumping for Bush in 2004, all over the country, proclaiming "he's the best man for the job." Now, a rebel, an independent, indeed, any thinking man or woman would not have believed that Bush was the best man for the job unless he was filthy rich and didn't want to pay his taxes and wanted the poor dudes to go out and fight for OIL in Iraq. Anyway, I remember McCain campaigning for Bush, and he destroyed whatever reputation he had for being independent or a maverick. He showed himself just being another party hack.

So, what is this vision you speak of? More tax cuts for the super-rich bastards who don't need any breaks from the government? More escalating health care costs and nothing to propose for the millions of Americans who can't afford health care? Or is McCain's vision just a pious little message about patriotism and chilling warnings about terrorists? Seems to me we got a glut of such visions from the president whom God told to invade Iraq.

Let's face it. The Republicans have lost face badly because of Junior Bush's disasters, and they'll have to bite the bullet this election and see if they can remake themselves into a party of fiscal responsibility and government efficiency and accountability. They're still a long way from that. If we didn't have so many racists in this country, Obama would be a sure thing. But many racists don't like to admit their failings, so they say one thing to the pollsters and vote their "I'll never vote for a black man" feelings in the privacy of the voting booth. And that's all that gives McCain even a prayer of getting elected.

He has no visions for America. He still looks backward to Vietnam, though he's gaga over Bush's Vietnam, and he thinks being a POW for 5 or 6 years earns him the right to be president.

I've heard no Democrat attack or besmirch John McCain's military service. To even suggest that is ridiculous. All Gen. Clark was doing was stating an obvious fact: McCain's war record neither qualifies or disqualifies him for the presidency. You might say it's a small plus for him, but it seems that's all he has, and that's not enough.

Interesting that you post the same crap all over the place, and then boast of your intellectual prowess. I would like to get in a battle of wits with you, but I don't like to fight unarmed men.

Rebel,

This response is a bit late in coming, but perhaps it will be read.

First, my post is not a ringing endorsement of John McCain in favor of Barak Obama. Rather, it is a rejection of the original post that any true American would vote agains McCain. That type of rigid, single-minded, orthodox, world view is one of the worst parts about the Bush presidency. Thus, I reject the logic more than the message.

Yet, I would answer some of your criticisms about McCain's vision as I understand them, and contrast that with the Bush presidency.

The following are things that I like about John McCain:

  1. Open ideas and debate - McCain fosters ideas and debate instead of squashing it. He has offered Obama a chance to debate is a variety of townhall meetings accross the country. Granted, this is where McCain sees his political strength, so we can't be too idealistic about his motives, but that doesn't make it a bad idea. President Bush has worked hard to avoid public debate with his policies, often circumventing the spirit of the law, if not the exact letter, to avoid having to tell us, the people, anything.
  2. Campaign finance - McCain worked hard in the face of in-party opposition to get this passed. Bush was solidly opposed to this.
  3. Works with the other party - Campaign finance is a good example of this. I want a President who isn't so blinded by party politics that he cannot work with the opposition. Clearly Bush could not work with anyone opposing his views, even when those people were in his own party. Colin Powell is an excellent example.
  4. Immigration reform - McCain's ideas, and the President's, made good sense to me. It is one of the few areas I have ever agreed with W.
  5. Fiscal responsibility - McCain talks about balancing the budget. Good. The GOP needs to get back to its fiscally conservative roots, and McCain at least talks about doing so. Bush and the GOP-led Congress destroyed the ideals of fiscal responsibility in attempts a blantant power and money grabbing for themselves and their friends. I am concerned about McCain's push for the continuation of the Bush tax cuts though, as you state in your post.
  6. Honorable person/leader - McCain clearly has been in situations that tested his character. In many of those he has aquited himself as an honorable man. His decisions as a POW, staying a prisoner when political connections would have released him, is good evidence of this. Can I say that I agree with all of McCain's decisions or political machinations? No. Yet, I think that at his core, McCain is a man of principle and honor.

There is also a list of things I do not like about McCain. His lobbying for Bush in 2004, as you point out, is one of those things. Additionally, McCain's pandering to the Right is a big concern for me. Similarly, I have pros and cons for Sen. Obama.

As an independent, I do not know who will get my vote. It might be very close to the election before my mind is made up. I can only say that it has been a long time since I had respect for both candidates, and feel that either one could make a good president.
