The Prisoner of $penda
by REALITY CALLS

Thanks, Tim, for straightening us out.

I was worried that Democrats might not be immune to the hundreds of millions of dollars passing-through their fingers. I was thinking only Republicans were swayed by that kind of money.

I was even concerned that spending so much money for a job that doesn't pay more than a candidate could get at a good law firm had a dark side. Maybe it had something to do with the billions in government contracts given-out to friends and relatives once the candidate is in office.

Nah. At last the uncorruptible Democrats will be there, helping us to the Utopia we deserve just by living.

Constitution..Obama has actually read it, studied it, and, unlike John McCain..LIKES IT.

Supreme Court..McCain isn't even pretending he's not trying to politicize it to the advantage of the far evangelical right.

And Obama may be a hell of a lot more "uncorruptable" than you think. Us loony lefties ain't exactly thrilled with his flirtation with the middle and we're his "grassroots base".

So McCain has to kiss some wrinkled butt and toe the party line for his support..but Obama isn't exactly doing that is he?

Having gone through what passes for an educational system in this country, I was as leftist then as you are now. Not only was this thinking based on 19th-Century delusions, it was incompatible with the contractual agreements made in the US Constitution, a document rooted in the 17th Century, a very different intellectual period.

There are actors who read-between-the-lines when giving a performance, but it is their own interpretation and not in the script, as any writer will tell you.

The Left is the secular alternative to the Southern Baptist Convention, but it also demands that you waste your time for a higher, non-existent purpose. The main benefits are that socially, the girls are whores, and militarily, you get to feel good about being a coward.

@ REALITY CALLS --

Oooh, a disenchanted former leftist turned cynical Libertarian or otherwise baptized into some similarly louche persuasion à droit! Having largely avoided what passes for an educational system in this country, I will happily take your arrogant ass to school on Harrington, Tyrell and -- my preferred revolutionary political thinker of the English Siglo d'Oro -- Winstanley (how about THAT 17th century, wise guy?) any day of the week. Christopher Hill much?

But whatever. What disenchanted you, little boy? Thrashings from your intellectual betters who don't read out of the Amerikan Phalange's playbook for manly-man politics? Love your last sentence. Oh, the avatars of Marcus Curtius who are the neocons -- so, so brave they are! Bush, Cheney = martial models? Don't make me laugh. And in case you haven't noticed, the itch-currying, repressed right is not short on punks -- Rochester's sense -- no few of whom -- Mark Foley and Larry Craig much? -- are (betimes homosexually pederastic) manwhores. So shove that, all righty? Maybe you've gotten on the Burkean gravy train -- to move up a century -- to bow and scrape before the financial masters of this saeculum in hopes that they'll remunerate you enough for your cravenness to rent you a whip? Whited sepulchre!

Delusions of all centuries drive us ever, not just those of the intervening round from 1600 up; as Faulkner more or less said, the past isn't dead -- it's not even past. All froth on the face of the Absolute, in any event. Hayek and Friedman are any less chimaerical than Marx and Keynes? Not sub specie aeternatis, certes. So please do persist in your incarnating of everything that's wrong with civil discourse in the U.S., you self-satisfied, monochromatic peckerwood.

One last note: If you've so thoroughgoingly liberated yourself from the miserable schooling that this benighted republic has on offer for its citizenry, how comes it that you don't know any better than not to hyphenate "read-between-the-lines" when the sequence isn't functioning as a compound adjective? Poser. Aroint thee!

Hmm. Pookie, how can I answer you? That you are a coward, a douchebag, the unnatural spawn of two whores? That would be too kind.

A republic is sure to fail when mincing little emo boys such as yourself are its defenders.

And you,I presume, are posting from a military base?

Being that militarily you are not a coward.

Go forth and kill the infidel and be killed..I believe YOUR government needs you.

Typical right winger. Too patriotic to carry a gun in defense of your country. Too tired from carrying patriotism as a bludgeon for use on those you disagree with, I suppose.
