boing! (the end of times ..)

It's important to include the number at the end.

funny. on one hand Hitchens acknowledges the illiteracy of Americans, not wanting to confuse them by calling a non-American looking phone number a ... phone number, on the other hand he asks them to send ... books. Jesus. Can you find a bookstore in America these days? I mean, you might get some Econ 101 text books, and a whole bunch of Idiot's Guides, like to the Internet, Losing Weight, Sniffing Out Muslims, Watching NASCAR, etc. And some comic books or old Sports Illy's if it's left up to the wife (which would be fine, of course, I'm sure American Culture 101 is mandatory).

Ah, well, all's well that end's well.

This post simply cnnfirms my belief that the Fray has become nothing but a mutual admiration society for snarky liberals to write cheesy screeds against everyone in the US.

Except of course, for themselves. They see themselves as the philosopher king class, highly educated, filled with only the most righteous morality, and ready to beat the crap out of the peasantry until they shape up.

All for the ultimate good of the peasantry, of course.

Garsh....they're a whole bunch o' them bookstores near my double-wide...and I done bought me a book just the other day theat weren't about NASCAR.

the snark, i suppose, would be ok... if it wasn't so damned cliched and awash with wince-inducing pseudointellectual disdain.

inconsequential poseurs giving each other handjobs. Hitchens doesn't write for the weak-minded, thankfully. let them snark away, tho...it's all they got.

That's a powerful example of confirmation bias. Try reading a different post. Also realize that when you attempt to belittle all of liberalism by putting words in peoples mouths and taking extreme examples, nobody really buys it except other people who already agree with you and are looking for confirmation of their worldview.

It had never occurred to me that the Fray has more or less been reduced to liberal flavoured conspiracy theorists - until I read it above.

So much for your half-baked theory Sanjait.

P.S. while criticizing someone for "putting words in people mouths", you should probably avoid putting words in the mouths of everyone who may have been listening to the object of your criticism. People might mistake you for a hypocrite.

He attributed a quote to another that wasn't anything like what he had said. That's not a conspiracy, it's quite obvious. Read it yourself. I'm sorry if that's too much reality-based community for you, but I'm afraid there is such a thing as true, untrue, correct and incorrect.

On that note, realize I didn't put words in anyone's mouth either. I simply said the people who buy the kind of argument that utilizes such a glaring misattribution as we saw in the object of my criticism are people who are already inclined to agree, and not interested in contrary evidence. That's a far cry from me actually attributing a statement to them they didn't say.

Any more snark from you jams?

Projecting just a tad there, Viv? Sheesh. As if your monicker itself, and your second-rate sequipedalianism weren't evidence enough of your pomp and preciosity.

wow, how many times does one see in these threads yet another clumsy use of the "projection" card- yeah, yeah, you're rubber and i'm glue, got it. what, are you a 5th grade schoolgirl? I may have a pompous and precious "monicker", Old Fish, but it certainly rises above your banal and bony one.

You have to admit, my dear Lady Vivian, your handle does sound a bit like a character name from D&D. You could get a +1 bonus on all Fray-related saving throws!

And yes, I'm sure mine sounds much the same. :-)
