Good news...
by TXDem
I got a job in New Orleans as a research assistant to the chair of my department! Her research interests and mine (historic preservation) line up really well. This will mean I get my tuition waived and I will get a salary on top of that, so I won't have to work in a bank throughout grad school like I feared! I couldn't have asked for a better situation. Just thought I would share with you guys who have been cheering me on!

Shitting in high cotton as the saying goes. That is good news.

Luckily I decided to check when I did I grabbed the last slot for the class I needed. American Regional.

That's how fast it was gobbled up. Remember the plan B last semester? Yeh by a stroke of luck I didn't screw the pooch this time and Forrest Gumped it.

I don't know if you paid attention to the SupremeCourt rullings of 5-4 with Anthony Kennedy joining the conservatives on Heller?

In both cases an unfomfortably close call.

Congratulations, no one deserved it more, living in N.O. should be fun. Hope all goes well and keep up the hard work, plus work on weekends at the bank anyways and save some money if you can.

Brgds

Thank you everyone!

OT, the rules of the assistantship is that I can't have any other outside jobs, but since I will be working 20 hours a week and taking a full course load that will probably be just about all I can handle. Plus, I plan to start volunteering a lot while I'm there, like for cemetery cleanups and neighborhood cleanups, so hopefully that will be what I;m doing on the weekends.

Roger, I'm glad you got the class you wanted.

It's not about want, that would have been a major fubar having to wait for the next cycle.

I should have said 'need' instead of 'want.' In either case, that's a very good thing.

Congratulations and your employer is fortunate to get your services. Academic knowledge, a wonderful personal advisor and psychic besides.
