Yeah I'm a bit disappointed in Obama

Public financing was a no brainer. Besides McCain still may be hit by the FEC for his loan scam and over spending in the primaries. He owes his opponent nothing.

As far as the SCOTUS ruling on gun bans goes I don't think he said anything that matters. one way or another. He pretty much stuck to his position So in my opinion it doesn't count against him.

His statements on death penalty for child rape is a interesting bit of pandering. After all the ruling knocked down what basically amounts to hate crime legislation based upon the status of the victim. This is something the right is usually philosophically against. My opinion on the death penalty is that you should execute for a crime where there was not a death. But he's a politician and everybody knows what Dukakis did to himself on that issue.

The big one for me is FISA. He said he would stand against Telecom immunity. He backed down from that pledge and as far as I am concerned it doesn't even count as a flip flop. He told a bald faced lie.

If libs or independent are going to be able to point to bush and republican lies. We will have to point out the ones that take place in the Dems camp.

This is one of them.

Oh, I have no problem in having those things and others pointed out. They aren't cool.

Still, two things.

One, he's a politician and I've never had any illusions otherwise.

Two, he's still a damned sight better than the options we were offered on both sides, HillBilly Inc or McCain.

i agree anyone who respects individual rights has to be disappointed in his FISA stance. But, i think i heard somewhere that he supported despite not wanting immunity for telecoms?

POTUS candidate Obama voted for something that Sen. Obama would not have.

Well it a two edged sword. He does want the vote to be a drag on his campaign or the party in Nov. The politican knows he won't lose votes to McCain over it.

But on the other hand it was a promise he made. He's the head of the party now and it up to him not those below him to set the example.

I don't see FISA as any different than a guy who decided to for the sake of expediency drive drunk because he didn't want to wait for a ride home. And instead of upholding the law. This bill says hey let's just make drunk driving legal when not doing so appears to be inconvenient.

"As far as the SCOTUS ruling on gun bans goes I don't think he said anything that matters. one way or another. He pretty much stuck to his position So in my opinion it doesn't count against him."

Except he didn't stick to his positions or his record, which we discussed in detail a few weeks back. He just waffled away and hoped nobody noticed.

Fairness doctrine too ? That should sink the talk about him being a far left candidate. If he feels Rush and Hannity are entitled to lie there asses off across America without an opposing point of view. He is in no way part of the FAR LEFT Boogie man.

How so ? He says it sets down the guideline that govts will have to use when crafting gun laws.

It's true and accepts the reality of the ruling.

I've said for some time that
by mookex

.....liberals had to put their liberal agenda in the backseat to support BHO over HRC

Clinton was by far the most reliable "liberal" candidate....much too late to do anything about that now, eh?

Ha!......if wishes was fishes, we'll have to make the most of the situation as it is......BHOs feets will need to be put to the fire frequently for liberal agenda issues to be attended to properly (IMNSFHO;)

I don't Hillary would have taken a different stance on these issues. She free to support a filibuster. I don't if we'll she her do it.

"How so ? He says it sets down the guideline that govts will have to use when crafting gun laws."

His old position was the DC position, that cities have the right to ban handguns.

doesn't matter anymore
by mookex

....only mentioned as my take on BHO left or right lean just as part of the discussion

I like BHO & think he can win, which for me is saying a lot, you know where I stood during the primary campaign.

So far things have shook out differently than I thought they would, McCong looks weak & fidgety & BHO comes off looking strong & confident

there's nothing not to like about the current political situation and democratic party prospects but I have no illusions about BHO backing a truly liberal agenda

(t), you have to good an eyesight...
