by ColonelMcPhee

8th amendment violation in a hot corning ware serving dish.

A few ingredients.

Leftover Baked Beans.
Tofu franks
Canned Rutabaga

I'm sorry I can't go on.

I'll try again later.

Taste is in the taster

Yes, I like fresh steamed asparagus.

But I like canned asparagus, too.

Howeve, I'm not all that fond of the canned green peas, mushroom soup, boiled eggs and asparagus casserole that Aunt Alice makes for every family get together. I think she crumbles up Ritz crackers on top. Doesn't help much.

Here is a link.

However, I agree with the other poster that canned rutabaga is not high on my culinary favorites veggie list.

When I want rutabaga, I go visit my dear sainted mom, who has cooked that root veggie for years. She buys them in the grocery store, peals and cuts them in chunks, Adds them to water in boiler, with a tsp of sugar, tsp of salt and tablespoon of butter. Cook until tender. She is a southerner, so tender is probably more cooked that other parts of the country, but they should be at least fork tender.

Eat with pork chops, field peas, cooked from frozen because the canned guys are vile repugnant abominations to mankind, and cornbread.

canned veggies to avoid (IMO):

Green peas
any of the field peas
spinach
rutabaga
any squash

All are excellent from fresh or frozen.
