I hope someone has mentioned somewhere in the discussion that the x chromosome in males comes from the mother.

Therefore all of the shared traits (increased fecundity, homosexuality, etc.) follow the pattern of gene on an inherited x chromosome.

The female chromosome carrying traits associated with sexuality does not seem like a big intellectual leap of faith, but rather seems pretty plausible.

Homophobia is going to have the same linkage, btw.

How do you know it is X linked? The article didn't indicate the authors knew which chromosome the putative gene is in.

The models that worked best were x-linked. In fact, two x-linked genes worked best. I didn't get into x-linkage because the theory was complicated enough (to explain) without getting into that. But for those interested in further reading, yes, x-linkage is the next crucial hypothesis after sexually antagonistic selection.
