I have personally donated to the campaign of Mr Jason Chaffetz and spent time working the district to assist in getting him elected. Mr Chaffetz is spot on regarding his stances on the issues, one of his catch phrases throughout the campaign has been that he will work to represent Utah to Washington. Not Washington to Utah. We were outspent 6-1 by Mr Cannon, who was endorsed by state and national party luminaries and we trounced him by %20 points. People across the nation need to realize that whatever their political stripes concerned citizens must hold our elected officials accountable for their actions or lack thereof.

Kaus may be making too much of Chaffetz' win. Cannon has been a weak incumbent for years. He was blessed with even weaker, extremist primary opponents. Chaffetz is young, personable, smart and a great grassroots campaigner. He got Gov. Huntsman elected here. In short, this was a case of the right primary opponent finally toppling Cannon, who is well-liked but uninspiring. McCain will still carry about 70 percent of the vote here in Utah.
