Families without homosexuals?
by lovelyrita
I don't know how they could have done a study that includes homosexual-free families, because I highly doubt such a family exists. Even if you don't know about it, your family has at least one. I've never met someone who didn't have a gay aunt, brother, niece, etc....and I live in a Midwestern red/purple state!

Ya know, my family did have one... my step-cousin, who went to New York to persue theatre (which made my entire Lutheran family go "Ahhhh, gotcha.") Then he killed his FEMALE lover and framed his then-boyfriend.

Needless to say, we were all very confused.

Statistically
by degsme

Statistically male homosexuality is roughly 11% of the population. That means that in an immediate family of a Father with a brother, a sister and 2 sons, and a mother with a brother and a sister, you have 5 men. Statistically that means there is a 56% chance that there are no gay homosexuals in that family assuming there is no genetic driver.

If there is a genetic driver then it gets more complicated, especially if it is maternally driven and I'm not going to bother doing the numbers, but it ends up that its not at all unlikely.
