We're Right; They're Wrong
by jabailo

The thing is...the closer we get to November, the more people will realize what we really need is a 3rd Bush term.

McCain is a great choice to be the next 4 years of Bush. He doesn't need to compromise so much with the opposition. The opposition, the Democrats, the Liberals, the Anthropomorphic Global Warmers, the detritus of the Malthusian Club of Romers...are wrong.

The hardest thing to accept is reality.

Reality is:

  • there are people we need to fight to keep our country safe.
  • It's not about oil.
  • Warming is good...and it save energy
  • No one can "control" the economy
  • One man's crisis is another man's opportunity

Reality is:

  • there are people we need to fight to keep our country safe.
  • That is true. And there are also people that we don't need to fight.
  • It's not about oil.
  • What's "not about oil"? A helluva a lot is, indeed about oil at this point in our history. Why would you deny that?
  • Warming is good...and it save energy
  • I assume that this is a reference to "Global Warming"? There isn't a dime's worth of difference between the two parties on this issue.
  • No one can "control" the economy
  • Of course not. But government policies always affect the economy. It's only a question of how.
  • One man's crisis is another man's opportunity
  • Okay. But I'm not sure that I understand the point that you are trying to make here. I'm guessing that this is some sort of economic Darwinist statement? So you believe that no one gains unless someone else loses? Interesting theory, I guess.

I am sure that I will not vote for Obama and I have serious doubts that I can vote for McCain. But if I was sure that he would be 4 more years of Bush, I would be just as sure that I could not vote for him.

Bush is without a clue. He choses a path and no matter how much information exists that shows how wrong that path is he cheerfully carries on.

Of the two only McCain has shown a willingness to change his position in areas that are meaningful. Some call it pandering or flip flopping. In some cases I think that is true and in others I think it is not. Obama's changes have been completely about strengthening his political position.

How you can continue to glorify Bush is incredible.

"The hardest thing to accept is reality."

Who are these people that go around claiming to know more about "reality" than other people?

And why is it always the people who go around talking about knowing "reality" who appear to have thought the least about their ideas of reality?

Reality is:

  • there are people we need to fight to keep our country safe.

Theyre called Nationalists: commonly theyre Republicans.

  • It's not about oil.

Its also about power that comes from oil, among other resources.

  • Warming is good...and it save energy

wow, I bet you have a PHd in environmental science.

  • No one can "control" the economy

Except the people who control the non-controlled structure of the economy.

  • One man's crisis is another man's opportunity

I'll punch you and take your wallet - thanks for the opportunity!

"I am sure that I will not vote for Obama and I have serious doubts that I can vote for McCain. "

Thus proving the original post that people don't face reality.

These are the choices.

One will be President.

Either get on board with one, work within the system and make your voice heard - or continue to pretend you can exist off the grid of reality.

Whatever.

It is not a denial of reality that I have not made a choice yet. The reality is that I have to make a choice by November when I walk in to vote. There are other options including Barr and writting in Hillary.

I know that when all is over either McCain or Obama will be president but there are choices other than the two of them.

I have registered protest votes when I felt that there was no significant difference between the two major candidates and I was not enthusiastic for either of them. It would be hypocritical of me to argue that others don't have the right to do the same.

I don't have any allegiance to either party, so I don't feel any responsibility to support a candidate based on partisan loyalty. I feel a moral imperative to vote against the Republican Party at this point in our history. They have gone beyond the pale in their governance. Either party deserves a reminder of their partisan limits whenever they have been exceeded. But that's just my opinion...

I've voted independent in the past when I wasn't happy with either candidate (2000 being the most recent time). But this year, I think the stakes are too high to register a protest vote just to make myself feel better. The neocon train to disaster needs to be derailed. Yes, that means I'm primarily voting for Obama because McCain is Bush III. So be it.
