well yes, both candidate's wives need public image makeovers.
but no, i wouldn't have picked either of them as moving into the donna reed zone.
i think of cindy mccain as more of a "mrs thurston howell" of gilligans island. both in appearance and worldview. cindy is tragically out of touch with the way the world works, and the life of the average american. she'd be miserable to work for - like leona helmsley, or hillary for that matter ("you better carry that fucking bag if you don't want a one way ticket back to arkansas . .. ")
Michelle obama is a tougher match, but i'm going with star treks "spock" (or, in a modern update, vulcan/elf woman t'pol on the new "enterprise" series). there is that smirk, that barely concealed disdain for earth culture (i mean american culture), the almost controlled emotion, which you know is going to boil over in some unexpected way once in a while. she's always 2nd in command, maybe smarter than her captain, but has to watch what she says. ("captain . . . are you sure you want to use your phasers on the NAFTA treaty. the mexicans say they only want peace . .. ")
however, i do agree that barack himself could be in the zone of ricky ricardo on "i love lucy". can't you just imagine him screaming "michelle!!" ("LOOOSEY!!!!") after she gets caught spouting off on how awful america is to live in?
