The Deepest Wounds Are Self-inflicted: Dems '08
by EnsleyHill

Obama in, Clinton out: Contrary to my previous prediction, and due to the tragic loss of common sense on the part of the voters, Hillary failed to bag it and Obama seems assured of the Democratic nomination for president.

And so the best man lost and Lady Luck reached forth to bless Obama with a dubious blessing: the man who will blow it big-time in '08 and then move on to a life of being a stinking-rich celebrity, a philosophical guru and cultural icon of the Left with far too much influence and no real power.

While Hillary appears to be the type to really kick ass when the time for kicking ass arrives, Obama seems like the type that might, if he were asked often enough and pressed hard enough and you had something to blackmail him with, might possibly admit that he doesn't really approve of terorism and has the intestinal fortitude and sense of moral responsibility to actually criticize bigots, racists and terrorist-supporters of the Left--if it's politically expedient to do so and there is no way to avoid it anyway.

He's a fighter alright, but he's fighting for himself, not for ideals or principles, not for you, not for anything else. Never fear, Obama; TV, fame and fortune await you. Yes, you'll soon be snacking on caviar with the likes of Left Wing gurus and hypocrites like Jivin' Jesse Jackson and Big Al Sharpton! Your investments will pay off!

An Obama/Clinton ticket would be hard to beat at the polls (as I suggested long ago) but due to the Democratic propensity for blowing both feet off no matter how much luck and tail-winds they manage to pick up on, that isn't going to happen. Obama's racial and cultural mix are in fact his only +s; his philosophy and moral sense of direction come across as vague, incoherent and not-quite-believable, and he seeems to engage in follow-the-wind-sock politics.

Obama isn't a unity candidate. He appeals only to the far left of the party, a branch with just enough power and influence to doom the party to another journey through the wilderness, and to whom glitz trumps substance, and who give sense and reason unpaid time off while they fearlessly ride the bandwagons of special-interest groups, always defending the guilty and falsely accusing the victims, and the only moral or philosophical concept that they truly understand is the one that says "Fill my pockets!"

But that's just them; not all Democrats are irresponsible, untruthful, unreliable, senseless, and philosophically bankrupt, although at times it may seem otherwise. The chasms in the party are so deep and wide that all elections are determined (in effect) by the number of Democrats who will not vote Democrat. (Prediction: that number is rising. Supplementary prediction: the Democrats will claim that Obama is/was/will-be the victim of bigotry and racism, while in reality his racial/cultural mix were/are his sellling points. There is a wide spread feeling in our society as a whole that the time to stamp out racism and bigotry is long past due.)

So fear not Republicans: you've got it bagged for .08. You don't even need to campaign, just sit back and watch the Democrats self-drstruct! It'll feel great to be a Republican in '08.

i think you are right

i always wonder out of ALL the FINE presidential candidates that the dems had

how come the most incompetant one won the nomination? the one with the LEAST experience

i suspect the DNC CHOSE obama because they USED the rules to give obama every advantage

That's like, you know,

your opinion, man.

Listen, pal, just because you're bored gives you no right to bore everyone else.

Sure it does.

I'm licensed to bore and equipped for the mission.
It seems that they were more

obsessed with breaking down barriers with a showboat candidate than with providing strong leadership in perilous times or perhaps it was a dodge from the issues they can't come to terms with or agree on. At any rate, I'm convinced they have sunk themselves for another cycle.
Care to elaborate?

Damn good piece, EH. You'll probably be called a racist, a right wing fanatic, a fascist, and god knows what else.

Just remember, if the call you Jack Dallas...they don't mean it as a compliment.

Granted,it got him the nomination, but. . . when his political opponents don't self-destruct, what's McCain's "Plan B"?

Come to think of it, what's the Republican Party's "Plan B"?

The irony here is that your party was driven from power in 2006 because of its insistence on living in a collective fantasyland and refusing to face hard truths. . .which is apparently, itself, a truth too hard for you people to face. Oh well. Enjoy your fantasyland.

You're doin' a heckuva job there, Ensley!

Goody! More Concern-Troll Predictions We Should Heed Because
by tartuffe

um, your track record's so good!

Well, hell, who can blame you for giving it a shot, anyway, given how well it's working for the rest of the Wrong About Everything but Still Very Serious crowd (Friedman, O'Hanlon, Kristol [& Kristol], Goldberg [& Goldberg], Cheney, Rummy, Perle, Feith, Instaputz, etc., etc., ad nauseum).

No.

I don't want to keep participating in the "oh woe is us Hillary lost and now we're doomed" debate.
LOL I'm of the opinion that

those who worry a lot about their reputation don't deserve a good one, so I don't worry too much about it:) I've been called a lot of things, but I have yet to be called Jack Dallas--ah well, there's always tomorrow:)
If I were to build

my fantasyland, Thrashy, it would be a much prettier affair with better landscaping. The hard truths that need to be faced will not be faced by the current power-brokers of the Left. So if it happens that the Republicans find themselves in need of a Plan B it would be better to just concede the race and prepare themselves to deal with the fallout.
At the moment the

"wrong about everything crowd" (as you label it) is actually in power. How do you suppose that happened? Could it be that the Democrats were weighed in the balance and found wanting?

Yes, I'm diligently defending my bad reputation and I will be back to gloat about my predictions when they come to pass and everyone chooses to forget about them! I might even throw a Redneck BBQ and invite y'all over!
