Not true for naturally thin
by CrookedCubed

Both my cousin and I have been 5'2'', 85 pound beanpoles and we both had regular periods. Actually my periods themselves were quite extreme - it definitely didn't appear that my body was trying to save energy! My cousin was bedridden for the last 2 months of her pregnancy, but that's not unusual for women of any size in our family. She didn't have any trouble getting pregnant. Just as with other aspects of health, thinness is only a problem if it's unnatural.

Interestingly, my cousin and I weren't considered dangerously thin when we were growing up. "Normal" has moved considerably.

I agree completely. Up until age 20, I was 96lbs, at 5'5". That's a BMI of 16, and I had less than 15% body fat. I started my period at age 12, pretty normal, if you ask me. The explainer needs to study up on facts, not wives tales.
Not true for naturally tiny either.

My wife is about 4'11" when standing on a thick mat. She had wayed about 85 since 1970, except when having our kids. She never has any fat but she isn't bony, just tiney. For many years it seemed like I only had to look at her hard to get her pregnant. So I think anybody who thinks little people can't be mothers is wrong.

Naturally thin is one thing. It can be perfectly healthy. It's generally something that people have all their lives - not many people who have that are ever chubby as kids.

Nicole Ritchie is NOT, however "naturally thin". This is a new thing for her. She used to look like a normal young woman instead of an escapee from a war zone.

Take a close look at her. Her ribs stick out - her collarbones stick out farther than her breasts. The thickest part of her legs are her knees. In short, she looks malnourished and ill, when before she decidedly did not. She needs to be in a hospital.

If she thinks that she can honestly give birth to a healthy baby in the condition she's in now, she is sadly mistaken.

The article didn't mention anything about malnourishment or other health problems. It presented its stats as though they applied to everyone regardless.
Payback's a bitch

Payback's a bitch ain't it? Seem to remember this very same conversation a bit ago when all the thin people were blasting all those fatties who had BMI's 5% over the "proper" value.

No one has talked about blasting anyone in this thread.

People really need to learn how to read.

I'm blasting you, for your pathetic display of attention getting.

"It's not abnormal, just look at me!"

Interesting. Would it make you less jealous to know that I'm not a skinny woman anymore, but a skinny man?

So, women who happen to be petite, who anonymously acknowledge it on a thread right after an indictment of a notorious and ridiculed woman generally thought to be anorexic... are attention-seekers?

Because when I want to brag about how hot I am, I always bring up the quality and frequency of my periods, as well as my childbearing history.

Especially when I'm no longer a woman and therefore have no vested interest in looking like Nicole Richie.

(confidential to Crooked: Go you. We clearly live in a judgmental world-- sometimes sticking to your guns and just being yourself is a feat all its own)
