Well, this movie sounds like a stinker. I wrote and published a book about the 20JUL44 attempt on Hitler's life in 2002. The awareness of Von Stauffenberg's attempt on Hitler is almost zero in the general public. It wasn't an American victory or loss, therefore, it is pretty much a non-starter for most Americans. If Von Stauffenberg had succeeded, then it would have been newsworthy. Because it failed, it is a non-event, along with all the other failed attempts on Hitiler's life.

The battle scene seems superfluous. Von Stauffenberg's wounding is not really part of the story of the attempt on Hitler's life. I guess it might show something about about Von Stauffenberg's character, but the attempt itself is a better indication of Von Stauffenberg's character.

Cinematically, I could see Cruise as Hitler, before I could see him as Von Stauffenberg.
