Bee article BS
by NM Beekeeper

There is much information in this article that are inaccurate and misleading. I am a beekeeper who does not use pesticides to fight varroa mites or feed high fructose corn syrup or any of the like. Like many beekeepers, I allow natural selection to find colonies that can naturally survive varroa mites, then breed queens (the natural way) from those colonies. Also, there was a decrease in wild or "feral" honeybees. However, they are certainly not gone and their numbers are recovering rapidly.

Factors affecting bee populations that were not discussed include: Americans reaching for the pesticdes whenever any insect shows, municipalities that ban beekeeping, high chemical use monoculture, ...

Yes there are misguided beekeepers that do not maintain there hives in sustainable ways. These are the minority that are brought up in anecdote after anecdote. Most of us are very concerned about our bees and proud of the high quality products we produce.
