Congrats Boston
by Bananafish

Boston outplayed and out hustled the Lakers. They deserved to win. The Lakers need to take a long hard look at themselves and reevaluate some things. Clearly, some changes need to be made as everyone (from the coaches to the players) dropped the proverbial ball during this series.

Boston did play with a lot more heart. I still cannot get a good 'picture' of what I just saw in these finals?

How can a team like the Lakers play so well and so functional (e.g. sometimes their spacing, movement and passing were some of the best I have ever seen) and then have such a meltdown.

The great thing about sports is that there is always next year. If Bynum comes back at even 80% they will be the best in the West by far.

One of the best moves by Boston was getting P.J. to come back. The Lakers need someone like him; A vet with grit.

No offense, not everything PJ Brown was like omg "the best defense in the world." He was dormant in ATL series and in Detriot- House and Powe are not given the credit they deserve. I think you can't go in just to bang players up....case in point Horry and Bowen. Referees sooner or later are going to call you out and you will be more like a crutch to your own team. Posey got the same deal as well. Those player weren't effective in the regular season wins against San Antonio- it was all Powe, Rey and weird angle shooting Pierce.

Not everyone on your team is meant to score plus 10+ and hard screens and annoying pesky defense is what some may believe key to winning. Its actually naive to believe that, when your opposition can play a faster rotation defense and transition game with faster cuts and penetration.

Give Boston their credit, but you have to realize the games they won- they played their type of defense. The games they lost in playoffs, they played their type of defense as well. ATL could not capitalize in game 7 because of inexperience and CAVS lost because of Pj Brown not getting the foul called while on the drive- look at 31 sec at 4th QTR. If that was Pierce or KG they would have been called. It was plain sight of ref. If that was Parker, Ginobli or Deron, they would have gotten the call because they know to sell that as a foul- and they have look at Celtics vs. Spurs in the second meeting of the season. PJ Brown is not a wiry veteran- just lucky, and he cannot pull that type of stuff with other teams such as the Jazz and Spurs that will make him work.
