Once again, more religous hypocrisy
by benhon3

If the gift of life is given at conception, and we are all truly created in the image of God, then this article once again exemplifies hypocrisy in the throes of institutional religion. If Revs. Mohler and Fessio support hormone tampering in the womb, isn't that going against God's will? Wouldn't that make the child an abomination?

The argument that these two men of the cloth make invalidates the religous right's opposition to stem cell research and abortion as well since their stand on hormonal modification makes the fetus a choice in the hands of humans, not a devine creation. Saletan's article gives credence to the notion that the church will pick and choose morality based on its own philosophy, and invalidates their stand as righteous in delivering God's will.

You point is mute. That is like saying God wants Down syndrome or alcoholism. If parents can choose to have their child free of these genetic or developmental defects they will and should do so.

I'm pointing out the inconsistent reasoning of the church. The church is against abortion and stem cell research for the obvious reason of the sanctity of life. If the church warrants human intervention for purposes of hormonal changes, then that is altering God's plan. So therefore, if the church can warrant that, then they are on no better footing than someone who wishes to intervene in God's plan and have an abortion. Hypocrisy.

Check your bible....

Don't know about the NonDenominationals, but the Catholic Church clearly and unequivacably states that God wants you to have Down's syndrome or Alcholism and that you do not have a choice to change those conditions through genetic or hormonal experimentation.

Not that I agree with either you or the Church, but technically speaking that is not a moot point.

They don't.

Except, in a fit of hypocrisy, the Church might in fact rationalize their way to see a chemical demise of homosexuality, but that begs the question....

Where are they going to get priests?

"Where are they going to get priests?"

LMFAO! Thanks for that.

Would you still rather sleep with a sober cannibal than a drunk christian?

Seems you are the one who needs to check your Bible...and give scriptural references to these claims and not go by the traditions of men.....

Since you prove to have no idea what God's plan is, the rest of your observations are null and void.
Good point!

Yeah, the bible has only a smattering of discussions about things like genetic engineering, or for that matter, subatomic particle physics (I like the lively discussion between God and Abraham in Genesis about the differences between top, bottom and charmed quarks and how their spin affects their charge, but it really didn't go far enough for me).

You might be right though, Jesus' parable about how a woman's womb is like the salad bar at Applebees, where you can take what you want as long as you eat what you take implies that you should be able to choose your baby's genetic make up.

Too bad Applebees doesn't actually have a salad bar though.....
