Don't Blame Sexism, Blame Hitchens
by BostonWriter

Her whole self-pitying campaign, I mean to say, has retarded and infantilized the political process and has used the increasingly empty term sexism to mask the defeat of one of the nastiest and most bigoted candidacies in modern history.

If that statement were any more loaded, it wouldn't be able to stand up straight...oh wait.

As if his points weren't childish enough, Mr.Hitchens does an excellent job at proving the opposite of the one of his statements: Sexism is alive and well, and actively pervading the minds of people who don't know any better, or simply refuse to, speaking of retardation. Well done, Christopher, remember, a mind, like an umbrella, only works when open.

How exactly does he prove the opposite? He's merely stating that the majority of these claims of sexism were bogus, and that it was just a way of deflecting criticism of Clinton. More accurately, villifying anyone who criticizes her and falsely loading said criticism with the toxic effects of sexism. As you are clearly doing right now.

Thanks for proving his point.

Rather than calling his points 'childish', why not try rebutting them? Reasoning through an argument can be fun as well as edifying!

Point: "Hillary's campaign was self-pitying". Agree or disagree? Explain.

Point: "Hillary's campaign has retarded and infatalized the political process." Agree or disagree? Explain.

Point: "Hillary's campaign was one of the nastiest and most bigoted candidacies in modern history." Explain.

As for Hitchens, he can give arguments to support his point of view. Can you?

I believe this person saw "RETARDED" and assumed that he was refering to a mentally challenged individual, instead the moving backward and obstacle meanings of the word. Though I do believe Hitchens undercut much of his points when he made that statement, simply because he decide to use words that were loaded and have some insulting meanings.

It strikes me as queer that someone would assume that connotation of the word 'retarded', but I certainly see your point.

Ha ha ha.....

I'm so tired of discussing and discussing ad infinitum the campaigns, the sexism (say, did you know that on top of everything else, Hillary actually IS a woman, after all?), etc. that the only thing I can bring myself to comment on is your little joke here, aero....

LOL.

the whole hilary campaign reminded me of uncle leo on seinfeld who saw ant-semitism everywhere and thus was the butt of jerry's joke's...except of course for hilary and her misguided supporters it was sexism... can't win the primary...sexism...get mocked for crying sexism( because men never get mocked for crying)...waitress forgets extra ice..sexism...please, she lost because she is completely uninspiring to legions of people, including ( gasp) many many women. does sexism exist? well, yes ...is it the root of hilary's problems? no..she and her horrible husband are their own worst enemies. As for the umbrella metaphor( it's a little tired)...it seems as if it is the Clinton camp that is unable to entertain alternative reasons for her failure( and that's what it is, a failure..enough with the lame breaking ground /glass ceiling metaphors..she tried and she lost )
